About Sarah

What makes me a great caregiver is that I put my heart and soul into it. I was put here to help people. And it makes me proud and happy to do so. I became a caregiver because I wanted to do something different with my life, something meaningful. Growing up my mother was a CNA. I loved going to work with her and helping the residents. As soon as I became a caregiver I knew it was the perfect fit. The things I love most about this line of work is the feeling I get every single day when I leave. I leave knowing that I was able to help someone. Even on the rough days, I am grateful for the opportunity the HELP in any way. Some of my personal achievements are that 2-3 months after I started at Aspen Acres I was promoted to team lead. Which meant on my shifts I would lead my group of caregivers. The thing I loved most is that no matter what was happening I could help my team get through it. Aspen was my first job as a caregiver, so for me, that's one of my proudest moments.

As a Personal Care Worker at Aurora I worked in 2 group homes. Our residents suffered from mental and physical disabilities. My duties included all household chores including preparing and cooking meals. Also some of the residents had diabetes, so it was also my job to count carbs with those meals. Also I did all personal cares for any residents that needed help. I helped with any and all medications throughout my shift. I also regularly took residents on outings. The wonderful residents I had the opportunity to get to know and love would always like to go to the beach. I have at state required certifications to be a caregiver. I am also enrolled at WITC to take the Certified Nursing Assistant course.

Aspen Acres is an assisted living facility with many residents. The residents suffer from Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. My duties would include all personal care, serving meals and helping anyone who needed help to eat. Also daily exercises the residents would have. I was also a med passer and team lead. I have all state required certifications to be a caregiver. I am currently enrolled at WITC to take the Certified Nursing Assistant course. I love what I do, and I come to love each and every person I help take care of. I know that this is what I was put here to do.
