About Julie

I became a caregiver for my mother in 1990's after her memory began deteriorating due to dementia. Her goal was to remain living in her own home as long as possible. At first I helped by preparing meals and assisting with housekeeping chores. Later I assisted with personal hygiene such as bathing and washing hair and with daily errands such as grocery shopping and yard work. I like being a caregiver because it is a very rewarding experience. I like being able to help people remain in the comfort of their own homes as they age. A personal achievement I am proud of is being a mentor to my step daughter. She went through some rough times as a teenager and I was there for her. I lead by example and was and still am a consistent caregiver in her life. She is finishing up her Senior year in college and has a bright future. I have worked as a graphic designer for over 20 years. I am also an artist, painter, photographer and writer. I live in the country and enjoy gardening, bicycling, going for walks and being outdoors.

I have been a caregiver since 2000. I went to school to be a CNA/EMT. I passed both courses (Nicolet Area Technical College, in Rhinelander, WI) and worked as a CNA until 2018. I knew I always wanted to be a caregiver/nurse of some sort when I was in the hospital at age 16 to have my appendix taken out. The care I received was not great, and something I've always remembered. I knew immediately, that was not the type of caregiver I wanted to aspire to be! I love helping and taking care of people! I'd always wanted to further my education, so went back to school (NWTC, Green Bay, WI) and graduated, with honors(Something I'm so proud of!) from the Nursing program with my LPN license 12/2018. I was immediately hired with Prevea Health in Green Bay, Wi as a LPN. I currently work as a LPN in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. I'm always looking for ways to help others, and make a difference! I am BLS/CPR certified as well.

I became a caregiver beacause i felt like it was something i would be interested in so i thought i would give it a try. It turns out that i love my job! Sometimes though things can get challenging and stressfull, but i find a way to work through it. I love all of the residents that i work with and they feel the same about me...so they tell me haha. Some of them have quite the sense of humor, which is why i enjoy working with them. I also get to hear stories from when they were younger and it makes me think of how much life they have lived. These are just a couple of the many reasons I love being a caregiver.
