Sometimes u have to Tap into the elderly world like what they like and communicate with them to get them to trust you I have learned a lot working with elders that have Parkinson disease some with Alzheimer's and dementia some Thats paralyzed on one side some with catheters and colostomy bag hospice patients. a smile is all they need sometime. my family are nurses and I learned from my grandmother coming home in all white and people loved her everywhere she went I said that's going to be me one day and here I am. I'm job is very important my heart is very genuine my job is not done til the family is happy with the work I do. I have 18 years working as a caregiver and a resident manager at an adult foster home. My duties were: filling, ordering and dispensing meds, cooking, cleaning, banking, hiring and training employees, helping with all personal care, day to day ADL's, companionship, taking them on errands, and wound care. I have 13 + years of hands on experience and I am CPR certified. I understand and truly care about the elderly as I cared for both my elderly mother and disabled sister. After my mother's heart bypass in 2005, I decided to care full time for her. I have a great sense of satisfaction when I see the smile of gratitude on their faces. To say I cared for my Mother & sister in the comfort of their own home and in their time of need, I would surely do it again.
