I went into caregiving because I find a great deal of satisfaction taking care of others. I particularly enjoy the elderly. I have worked in private homes and in rehab facilities (alcohol and drug abuse) during the past 6 years. I also attended nursing school, but did not complete my course work. I have a CNA certificate. People say I have a pleasant personality and I am able to communicate well with anyone.

I am a fun, loving and easy to get along person with empathy towards my caregiving careers. I love to talk with new people and try to build up positive relationships as possible. I am willing with confident to provide support and safe for any gender on any care they need as possible. I always respect, provide independent and dignity for my client as possible. I always like to be a good listener to client not only to express themselves but I learnt different good deed from them the old fashioned way, and I take it. Most of the client i provide care for them will always consider as one of family member, for theirs to mine as well as mine for theirs. That is the achievement I always accomplished and proud of ,which I always left each family with good references.

My name is Loraini Draunidalo (Lora). I just want to tell you about myself and my caregiving background. I am 37 years old and originally from Fiji. I have been a caregiver since 2001 and I started out in a Convalescent Home in Santa Cruz as a non-experienced first timer caregiver. I had to learn really quick as I had 52 clients at night which some of them are counting on me to change their pullups/diapers every 2 hours, emptied and recorded catheters, administered medications or showers early in the morning. I survived 2 years at Twilight Manor and also gained my 2 years experienced. Moved to San Jose and continued working as a caregiver for a year in an Elderly Caregiving Agency and switched to Technology for 3 years. Worked for Hewlett Packard and unfortunately I was one of those who got the early pink slip. In 2007 I continued my caregiving with an Agency for 3 years and started out as a Private Caregiver in 2010 to present. I am certified CPR and First Aid. All these years that I have been doing caregiving, I have done cooking that can adapt to any diet, Light Housekeeping, Transportation, Assisted with bathing, clothing and feeding. Having been a caregiver to my late Mother for many years, and often, around the clock, I know all that this rewarding experience involved, but also how critical it was to have time to myself in order to decompress and re-charge. So, one of my goals as a caregiver is to give much-needed respite to loved ones. However, because I purely enjoy meeting the needs of others, particularly seniors and the disabled, this is a perfect career choice in which to do this. I believe I possess a few qualities that make this an excellent field for me to work in. First and foremost, I am *passionate* about helping and giving to others. But thanks in large part to my Mom, I am also a conscientious, compassionate, honest and trustworthy, well-organized and detail-oriented woman (who loves to laugh!). And last but not least, I have an extremely *positive* outlook on things. I am proud of a few things in my role as a caregiver to my Mom, but one of those that I am most proud of would be: She was taken to the ER and hospitalized 14 times in the last 9 months of her life; and I was by her side through it all, advocating very strongly on her behalf all along the way. In her final stage, when hospice came in, I was the first person to convince both them and our medical provider to keep my Mom on all of her 12 medications throughout hospice's care. This resulted in extending her life - so we got to spend more time together during these precious last weeks. It is my true intention and desire to care for all my clients with the same quality of care and attention that I gave my Mom, granting, of course, that I strictly follow the families' guidelines. Since the person I loved most in my life passed away. Seniors are attractive ,innocent and cute. Companionship is the most enjoyable time. When they get better from their pain and illness , it's proud of my personal achievement .

I am native to San Jose, I am a 3rd generation born in San Jose. I have been in the medical field for 38yrs. 25 yrs just doing home care. Caring for the elderly and being an advocate for them has been in my heart for many years. I have enjoyed working with them and have been blessed to share many of their journeys. I have encountered hundreds of elderly over the years, and have learned much from them. As the years pass, I will continue to serve those who are sick, elderly, or are coming to an end of their own journey. Hi, My name is Sha'Vonne, and my passion for caregiving started when my grandmother was developing the early stages of Dementia. I helped her with her medication reminders, transportation, and assisted with her daily activities. My peers recognized how great I cared for my grandmother, and suggested I pursue a professional career. So, I began helping other seniors with assisted daily living, and young adults with physical disabilities. What I love most about being a caregiving is making others life more easier and enjoyable! Hello! My name is Eva and this is my first time as a caregiver, and I just wanted to say that I'm really excited to get started! I've been doing this for a while now, my first experience as a caregiver was when I took care of my grandfather in India. I've been dedicated to being a caregiver since, I've been volunteering to take care of my elder neighbors and have experience as a babysitter for younger ones as well. My favorite hobbies are crafts and cooking, so if you are someone who enjoys food then you should definitely consider hiring me! I love sharing recipes I learn with others. I currently go to De Anza College and am probably working part time somewhere else as well, but that doesn't mean that my hours are limited. I keep my schedule pretty open for this, and am flexible with almost all tasks that come under housekeeping, daily to-do's (such as medication reminders, shopping, etc) and companionship for appointments and for time you spend at home as well. I can also drive your car for you if you want since I have been driving for about 6 years now and have a clean driving record as well. Hi there! My name is Abraham. For the last 3 years I worked for a family with teens. It's been a great experience and I want to continue to work with families. I'm open to helping the elderly like I helped my grandma over the years. I've helped her since 2010 and it's been a very fulfilling experience. Whether it was companionship, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, transportation, errands, or simply talking, I've received great joy from helping her out. I was in the military as an hvac technician and I have always carried the professionalism and attention to detail I have learned over the years. I enjoy working with people, especially the elderly. I am compassionate, kind and live by the old standard on holding the utmost respect for our elderly. My career has always entailed helping people. I find it rewarding and it makes my day complete when I can make someone else's day easier. Recently, I had the privilege of caring for my father in law who was in hospice care. Caring for him gave me the drive to continue helping the elderly or those in need of help.

I'd say my driving factor in all of this would be the fact that I like to work with people and help others as I can. As strange as it may seem, I've been in the workforce for nearly 5 years going strong; So I've always been the type to take pride in what I do and tackle tasks as diligently and effectively as possible. I take pride in my work and I love serving others; Especially when it's something that needs to be done and no one else can do it. Things like this help me feel appreciated and fuel my desire to move forward and always continue to better myself, in my career, academics, and in my personal life.

I became a caregiver because of the flexible hours which enabled me to complete my university. I like being a caregiver because I like helping others and the rewards are usually positive. I've pursued a career other than care-giving or nursing prior to raising my children but I kind of regret that I did not continue to study nursing. Nevertheless, now that my kids are almost grown (I have a 13 year old and 11 year old), I would like to get certified as a nurse assistant again and as a home health aide and work at night while my kids are sleeping. I am currently a homeschooling mom and would have to come home in the morning to help my kids with their schooling.
