I worked with my mom before while she was a caregiver and I told her I liked it and I could do this for myself. I enjoy being around people comforting and helping them while they have been neglected or they just can't help themselves. I have achieved a lot of minor things but the one I will be most proud of is when I graduate college at San Jose State in May.

I was put into a situation at childhood taking care of my mother with rheumatoid arthritis. Taking care of my dad after college for over 14 years from a major stroke. I know what it is like for the patient and the family. I know what it is like when you loose your dignity having to depend on someone to feed you, dress you, bathe you and still find beauty in life. I am a very caring person and caretaking or elders comes very natural to me. I treat each individual the way I would like to be treated. I left my job 6 years ago with AT&T as a Senior Project Manager to take care of my wife w/cancer and daughter with systemic lupus. I know what it is like being sick and depending on others to get you through the day. I tried to get back to work but having been out of work for 6 years and over 50 its been almost impossible. Lets get real I think its time for a carreer change and doing something I truly am good at and enjoy. Its not about the money but what I enjoy doing...

My name is Teresa Sanchez and I am pursuing my dreams of being an RN. 4 years ago I completed my CNA license at the same time as attending San Jose State to complete my requirements for my degree. December of 2018 I graduated from San Jose State with a degree in public health and Am now attending Carrington College to further my education and become a registered nurse. Hello, my name is Zoe Hemenway. I am 21 years old and live in San Ramon, CA. I am currently attending San Jose State University, Go Spartans! I am studying to become an Occupational Therapist. I decided to become a caregiver because caring for others is something I have a passion for. I have experience working in assisted living facilities as a Care Manager as well as working in-home care. In-home care is something I enjoy because I am able to give the personalized care that each of my residents needs. I love helping people and making sure they can have the best day possible.

I am a licensed Occupational Therapist who has previously worked in Home Health. Unfortunately, during my time working for an agency, I encountered many patients who I felt would benefit from a greater level of care than their insurance would authorize. I often found myself wishing there were more I could do to help. I decided to follow my heart and do what I feel is right. I have been an OT for 9 years. I worked primarily in pediatrics for the first 8, but started in home health last year. I have loved working with the older generation: hearing stories, learning new things, and sharing laughs.
