I've worked in adult family homes, senior living centers, and caregiving agencies, and I've cared for people of all ages and medical conditions, including those with disabilities. My talents to communicate well with the people I am caring for and to ensure that I am doing my best in taking care of the individual are some of the personality attributes that make me a great caregiver. In addition, as a caregiver, I strive to be patient so that my interactions with the people run easily. Most older people are in vulnerable situations, relying on others to look after them, and it is critical that they have someone they can trust and communicate to. I became a Caregiver because I did not have the opportunity to care for my Grandmother who became ill and died shortly after. So I do care giving with a passion as though each individual is my relative. Also at the end of the shift to see the satisfaction and gratitude on the patients faces for a job well done. There are times when it could be challenging but because I am there for them I have to make it work for both parties. Hello! My Name is Bahana. I am 19 years old, Ive been working as a CNA for 2 years. I am very compassionate, responsible, and out-going person. I decided to be a caregiver because I absolutely love helping people, and since I am an aspiring nursing student I wanted the health care experience early. What I like most about caregiving is meeting all types of clients, getting to know about how they grew up and how they use live, and getting advice from them.

I have always had a need to take care of others who can't help themselves. When I was a little girl my mother use to call me a born Nurse Maid! Taking care of someone gives me a good feeling, because I have made a positive difference in someone's life. I have had many personal achievements in my life. But the two achievements that still make me smile are when I took care of my parents in my home until their last day on earth. My mother had Alzheimers and my father had Cancer of the Esophagus. I moved them into my home the summer of 2000. My father passed March 6, 2002. My mother passed the following year, March 3, 2003. The second achievement being when I took care of 3 Autistic brothers who lived in Elkton, Md. I took care of them for 6years! What you need to know about me is that I am a mother, grandmother, cancer survivor and a very good friend. I am trustworthy, dependable, humorous , a very high energy person, detail oriented, a self starter with an extremely strong work ethic.
