The health care field became a calling to me, when I became unhappy with the manner in which my father was being cared. I saw that most were not willing travel, as well. I was slowly able to get trained while still assisting with his care. I can empathize with patients and their families because I have been on both sides. When working with a patient, that patient is not just a number - and I will do whatever I can to help. Quite often, I am called into situations where a nurse/caregiver/health aide, etc. Has quit, did not show or had an emergency of some sort. This gives families flexibility. I want to help as much as I possibly can, in order to assist with the patient feeling as well as possible as well as the family. This includes asssisting on trips. This way the family can enjoy their time together. I also assist pre and post op, with patients, so they can get home as soon as they are ready. I have also worked with patients loved ones who need someone to stay with their spouse or relative who may be incapacitated by Alzheimers, Parkinson's disease, and many other diseases. My goal is to work with everyone.

I became a caregiver because in my future I plan on becoming a nurse and not only does this give me experience but it also gives me a chance to give the elderly a little more freedom. I am proud to say that I have worked with many people while they were sick including children.

I am a college graduate from Florida State University. I received a bachelors degree in Biological Science. I am currently applying to Physician Assistant graduate school. I am extremely patient, compassionate, and understanding of physical and mental disabilities and the difficulties they impose on individuals. I have a passion for helping others and really enjoy engaging with the patient not only as a caregiver but as a companion. I am a fast learner and can easily adapt to changes in patient care.
