The health care field became a calling to me, when I became unhappy with the manner in which my father was being cared. I saw that most were not willing travel, as well. I was slowly able to get trained while still assisting with his care. I can empathize with patients and their families because I have been on both sides. When working with a patient, that patient is not just a number - and I will do whatever I can to help. Quite often, I am called into situations where a nurse/caregiver/health aide, etc. Has quit, did not show or had an emergency of some sort. This gives families flexibility. I want to help as much as I possibly can, in order to assist with the patient feeling as well as possible as well as the family. This includes asssisting on trips. This way the family can enjoy their time together. I also assist pre and post op, with patients, so they can get home as soon as they are ready. I have also worked with patients loved ones who need someone to stay with their spouse or relative who may be incapacitated by Alzheimers, Parkinson's disease, and many other diseases. My goal is to work with everyone.

In 2011, just after graduating from college, I lost 40 pounds and became bedridden. Doctors misdiagnosed me with a terminal condition. It took 3 years of research and then 2 years of intense medical treatments, but I'm as healthy now as I've ever been. My experience of illness, as a patient, was also a spiritual awakening. Illness, chronic or acute, is an opportunity, even when it doesn't, at all, feel like it. My talent as a caregiver is three-fold. First, I have knowledge of conventional and functional medicine and alternative therapies that can open doors to my clients that they didn't know existed. Second, we have fun. I help clients find and cultivate joy, so they feel better about what they're experiencing. Third, I cook amazing (really amazing) food. Nutrition is such a foundational part of wellness and healing, and good food soothes the soul. Life is beautiful. This is what so many people in my support system didn't understand, when I was ill. Even in its challenging moments, life is beautiful. More than anything, that's what I want to bring to my clients when I meet with them -- a hug or a first bump, a big smile, and a chance to celebrate them, and their beautiful life.

The empathy and compassion I bring to the nursing field having cared for my mother with dementia and my grandfather whose elderly and unable to walk as well as children at children's healthcare of Atlanta and peachford hospital brings me a wide array of skills and experiences that should put me in front of all applicants. My ability to synthesize information at a quick pace, while showing empathy and compassion to my fellow human because of the family caregiving experiences I've endured should make me a great fit for any opportunity that arises. The personal letters I have received from families and doctors and nurses alike, while working at children's healthcare is something I am proud of and suggests how caring I am.

Experienced, compassionate, caring and detail oriented caregiver with over 30 years in the medical field. Caring for seniors is where my heart is. I left my career as a hearing specialist to care for my parents before they passed. I have specialized and extensive care with Alzheimer's/Dementia , Parkinson's, Cancer, and diabetic patients. My duties included cognitive and physical stimulation, mobility assistance, meal preparation, medicine management, companionship, assist with feeding, dressing, showering and toileting, running errands, transportation to appointments, all housework, laundry, and other nursing duties. I enjoy taking my clients on day trips to museums, picnic in the park, long walks, going to church or out to eat, or staying in watching tv or doing crafts and puzzles. I treat every client like family, as it's a privilege to care for your loved one. I'm very comfortable with all pets. CPR/First Aide trained, experienced with Hoyer Lift and G-Tube feeding.
