I enjoy the ability to help others, to gain knowledge form the elderly. I became a caregiver a few years after my grandmother was put in a nursing home. I saw the love and compassion she received and this inspired me to want to help the elderly and disabled. I got my CNA when I was 18 and my EMT when I was 20. I am proud to say I have helped an number of sweet people and they in turn have taught me so much. As a mother of two children, I want to show them that loving, caring and respect of all ages, ethnicity will make this world a better place.

Welcome, everyone! My name is Andy Thomas and I am thrilled to offer my services in care taking to families and individuals in the Flagler County area. In the recent years, I have discovered my passion and natural ability for caring for others. My areas of experience include: muscular dystrophy, quadriplegia, tracheotomy care, dementia/Alzheimer's care, transportation for appointments, outings, etc., assistance with physical therapy exercises, and various home care needs. I am always open to expanding my knowledge so if you feel that I could be a great fit but don't see your need listed, please don't hesitate to reach out. Outside of work, the care giving continues as my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter keep me and my wife very busy... but entertained.

Since I was raised from birth by my grandparents, who also took care of my handicapped mom since 10 years before my birth, I've had a lifetime of being in an environment of senior care and disabled care. Starting in high school, I had a larger role in caring for my grandad and mom with medical issues, and this role increased as my grandad had cancer and various treatments for it as well as increased hospital stays. I have a great, genuine desire to help people, and I'm skilled at it too. God has continued growing my skills of care and problem-solving as I continue caring for my 4 step-kids and husband, and my mom when needed. I also have 2 dogs and a cat, so I'm fine being around pets; I have a lot of previous experience caring for dogs, cats, and horses when working for families as a nanny.

I am very friendly, nurturing, and full of life. I have always had a passion for taking care of others. I plan on furthering my career in medicine and pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant. I enjoy interacting with the people I take care of and listening to their stories. I love coming home feeling like I made a difference in their lives. I am personal proud of myself for having graduated from college and planning to further my career. I have been an aide for 3 years and they have showed me that making a difference in the world and in someones life can go a long way.

I am a mother to a child with special needs and I have learned a great deal about myself and how to care for others. I have learned patience and understanding in raising my children. I feel it is my entire reason for being on this earth, to care for other people. It is the only thing that truly matters. I am excellent at prioritizing and managing, as well as being able to stop and smell the roses. I believe every day is a gift and there is always something to learn and people to love.

I want to deal with geriatrics until I finish undergraduate because I have a lot of patience with older people. I need a slower pace from the hectic rehabs and nursing homes that I have worked at in the past. I'm super clean and calm. I have my own transportation and flexible hours, so hopefully you and I can compromise to give your loved one a clean and healthy home environment.

Given the nature of being a great caregiver my personality traits include being dependable, compassionate, and trustworthy. I have enjoyed working with people especially where I can be one one one with others. I enjoy making a difference in peoples lives.

Now that they are older and in school, I would like to get back to working and helping to support my family. I became a caregiver, when I was 16 and my grandmother became ill with Pancreatic cancer. I took care of her as best I could, while still being in high school. I can say, it was the greatest experience of my life. It's very heartwarming to see how much being a companion to our elders really helps to keep their spirits up. Being a Care Professional is my passion, And I could honestly do this for the rest of my life.
