Hello! I am a compassionate and empathetic recent graduate with a background in art therapy and working with adults with physical, neurological and developmental disabilities. Caregiving is a profession that speaks to me because I have always thrived in settings where trust-based, nurturing relationship building was at the core. I love getting to know the people I'm working with by learning from one another's unique perspective, stories and abilities. As someone with a background in art therapy, I am particularly interested in finding creative ways to connect with the people I work with.

I have worked as a caregiver for 4 years in Portland and 3 years in San Francisco. I was first drawn to caregiving when an artist friend of mine asked if I would be interested in providing support to an elderly woman who was both deaf and blind. The woman, Elva, was also an artist who needed support going to and from The Lighthouse for the Blind- astudio where she created sculptures. I also assisted her with daily living needs such as grocery shopping and other light house keeping. My relationship with Elva grew strong until cancer took her a few years later. After her death, I felt an emptiness and reached out to another position as a substitute to support Developmentally Disabled adults navigate various jobs and find creative outlets in the community. Once I moved to Portland, I joined Art From the Heart where I worked for 4 years. This is a studio which helps support Artists with DD. I led various art classes and provided support in the community. I also learned quite a bit of ASL and am furthering my studies of the language. I am an artist who has been creating woodblock prints and drawings for 20 years. I'm from Arkansas originally, attended college in Chicago and London, lived in San Francisco for 13 years where I worked in an Independent bookshop while creating and exhibiting artwork. I have been living in Portland for the past 4 years and very much enjoy being here.
