I love being a care giver because I am patient and I love seeing my clients improve and happy at the same time.

My name is Ngozi Onyekuru, I am CNA/CMT certified. Currently, I have a degree in social work . I have 10 years experience as a caregiver, I am patient with my clients because I understand what they go through . I work with my clients to be able to achieve their set goals. Secondly, attentiveness is another characteristic I bring with me when working with my clients. I am always attentive to the needs and changes that take place in their lives. I watch out for emotional and physical changes in my clients. I am compassionate, dependable and trustworthy. I am proud of my personal achievement, such as academic excellence and being awarded as the best caregiver of the month by my agency.

I have been caring for others my whole life. It's in my blood. I come from a family of nurses and doctors. My patients happiness and well being comes first. Seeing a smile on their face and knowing they are comfortable brings me joy.

I am an enthusiastic people person. I began my health care work in 1983 as a lifeguard for the developmentally disabled. I attended AACC for that license and CCBaltimore for psychology & abnormal psychology. By May of 1992 I was offered the position as an assistant house counselor. I studied & was certified as a med tech by the University of MD school of nursing. I had additional certification seminars through John's Hopkins. I became the head live in house counselor by September of 1992. I lived with 7 MR adults until 1996 when I relocated to a smaller home in the community with 3 Mr & physically handicapped adults I let in may of 1998 and began my career working in geriatrics at Rolling meadows Assisted living in June. I am b a Md State certified CNA. I am CPR/ and first aid certified. I have my entire life loved helping & caring for anyone sick, abused, injured or depressed....including animals. I lived with my parents at my maternal grandmothers house from 1972-until her death in 1983. I developed a tremendous love and affinity for seniors through her. I enjoy knowing that I am helping others and working to make their lives a happier place. I love to make people feel that they are special & unique, safe & truly cared about. I LOVE to hear the stories of the lives I have touched as well.It's like a journey through time. I am proud for the years I have given and to many peoples lives I have touched....I LOVE also to make people laugh & smile. I wish I could write down all of the places where I have been...but unfortunately, this site did recognize many of the city names. I also have a degree in writing Children's Literature..and attended culinary college & worked as a sous chef briefly. I also have a television acting degree and much community theatre experience. I have personal references as well of people who's family members I have cared for.

Hello I am a Healthcare Professional accepting new clients NOW. I currently have hospital, hospice care and Assisted living experience. I am compassionate and respectful when it comes to providing care for disabled, special needs and seniors. I am willing to travel, administer medication and assist with daily living. I have had my Masters in Social Work for over 10 years and have over 20 years experience in the social services field. Although in the beginning of my career I worked more with children and adolescents, in the last 10 years I have had the opportunity to work with older individuals in their home as well as in nursing, rehabilitation and assisted living settings. I have found that older adults are more relaxed, comfortable and upbeat when they are able to live in their homes and maintain their independence. I have always enjoyed working hands on and have found my experiences with the elderly population both educational and insightful. My jovial, smiling, approach tends to make it easier for folks to develop a comfort level with me. I have also found that my premature gray becomes a conversation starter and more often than not gets folks curious of my age for which I always explain that my gray reflects wisdom beyond my years. My first experience of geriatric caretaking - outside of family -came with an 82 year old neighbor who approached me to walk her dog. In addition to walking her dog daily I was also running light errands and performing light house work for her.

i consider myself to be a great care giver because i am very passionate about my clients well being. it gives me great joy to see that my clients are well taken care of and are able to take care of themselves. i have been doing this job for three years and i have come to meet a lot of people. seeing my clients well taken care of and healthy has developed my interest in being a nurse. i am currently enrolled at the university of maryland and will be graduating next spring with a Bachelors in nursing.
