Patients-People who need care often take longer to complete simple tasks. Humor-Finding something to laugh about can make a tough situation.Being present-know the importance of respecting their loved one's current abilities. Rather than focus on what your loved one can no longer do.

I became a Caregiver because of my grandmother. She is getting older and has Dementia, so I am always by her side trying to help her remember things and doing daily activities with her. Being a Caregiver is the greatest job I could of ever do because I am helping others out and communicating with them making them feel happy. A personal achievement would be making someone feel good about theirselves on a daily basis. I am a 24 year old and I have almost 2 years worth of caregiver experience under my belt . Im Certified in CPR and AED, Certified in Medication Technician, Certified in Alzheimer's and Mental Health. Also Certified in Personal Care Aide. I also just obtained a certificate in MRSA and Infection Precautions. I'm a very loving and a caring person, and very social.

I am a excellent caregiver because its my passion to devote my time, love and quality care to others in need. I do not look at as job but more as a service that I love to provide. I love the fact that I'm making an difference in someone's life . I decided to provide care by aiding for my grandparents I heard so many awful stories about caregivers that I wanted to make a difference and change the awful talks. My grandfather had dementia which was difficult in the beginning to deal with but I was able to gain knowledge of the disease and give him the best care he deserved. I enjoy what I do because in life its a lot of transitions and just knowing that I can be of help to someone in need does not only makes me feel good but also lets the one receiving know they are loved and care for. One of my personal achievements I'm proud is that I went to school and got my CNA license and I take great pride in providing my service

What makes me a great care giver is my positivity and willing to help others without being asked to accomplish things!

I am a caring individual that takes well care of my patients (my families can definitely vouches for me ). I enjoy the connection that I get from my patients. Just sitting there talking to them will bring us closer. I am a big advocate for my patients. If they are mistreated in anyway, I will see what I can do to help them get out of that situation. I am a people person , i get along with everyone and have always wanted to get into the healthcare field. I help my grandma who has dementia as well as my aunt who is impaired on her left side. I enjoy being able to help people , when i worked in a daycare center i was an assistant teacher in the special needs classroom , i was a dedicated aid as well and just decided to keep up with it. A personal achievement would be helping a student achieve the goal of crawling on his own for the very first time, as well as learning to hold a spoon.

I first realized i wanted to be a caregiver when i started caring for my grandmother she had an stroke and a heart attack before she came to move in with us at this time i was 13 my mom worked i helped out by being there for my grandma i would help her shower,get dressed prepare her meals and remind her to take her meds..i did it because she was my grandma and i loved her but my grandma was so appreciative and greatful she didn't treat as it was my duty or responsibility and it made me feel accomplished,proud and helpful at that point i knew that this is what i wanted to do help those just like my grandma.I am 26 years old with 4 years experience i enjoy what i do my grandma use to tell if you love going to work then you've found your calling i moved to newport news from maryland a year ago to be closer to my grandfather whose health was not doing good.I'm a good candidate because i can relate to the family of how they want their loved one to be treated and i provide my care as i would my love one
