What attracted me most about being a caregiver was seeing other family members, who worked as caregivers, explain how impactful and meaningful it was. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is helping those in need. I treat all of my patients exactly how I would want to be treated if I was in the same position. Being a mother, I have learned to be patient, understanding, and responsible. Which I also transfer into my job as a caregiver. A personal achievement I'm proud of is, being close to completing my Associates degree in Criminal Justice. I hope to one day work with children in the Juvenile System.

Hi, my name is Disheka Coley and I have been doing caregiver services for a few years now and I got into because of a family member of mine was in a car accident that left them paralyzes from the waist down and that was years ago idid it for a long time because they are family without being certified because I love the fact that they could count on me for meals, cleaning picking up meds etc. But now I recently have my certificate for PCA and now I'm able to help with not just my family but anyone who needs my help.

Hi! My name is Taryn. I am 24 years old and I have been a CNA since I was 17, so I have over 7 years of experience. My experience is with all care levels from just companionship to total care. I love taking care of people and improving their quality of life.

I became a caregiver to be able to take care of the elderly and allow them to stay home as long as possible. I am a hard-working college student (Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Assisting) currently attending Nash Community College. During the course of my academic career, I also managed to accrue nearly 8 years of work experience. I had the privilege of working for Primary Health Choice Inc. in a Personal Care Aide role in my free time, where I learned valuable professional skills such as assisted living, ambulatory care, and acute care facility. In both my academic and professional life, I have been consistently praised as focused by my professors and peers. Whether working on academic, extracurricular, or professional projects, I apply proven communication, interpersonal, and technical skills, which I hope to leverage into the Private Care role for your family member and love one.

I feel that it is our responsibility to care for those in need, whether they be family or strangers, disabled, sick, or elderly. I began caring for people at a young age (10). My grandmother was disabled (prosthetic leg). My grandfather had been on g-tube feedings for 15 years at that point and I helped with those. In 2005 I obatined my CNA 1 license and worked at WakeMed Hospital in the Rehab department. I helped those who had been in car accidents or who had recently had knee and hip replacements. I helped them with activitites of daily living. While employed there I gained experience with hoyer lifts, gait belts, catheters, prostethic limbs, and other medical devices. I worked with pateints suffered from dementia and alzheimers. I was also given the opportunity to work with people who were under Hospice care. I helped make their last days as pleasant and comfortable as possible. In 2006 I began working for the department of corrections. I worked in the hospital facility where I was exposed to more medical and health issues/needs and continued to help people on a daily basis. I currently work for the Department of Public Safety (Formerly Department of Corrections) as a supervisor (custody, not health care). I would like an opportunity to help people like I was able to in the past. It brings joy to my life (an hopefully to those that I help) when I am able to assist them with accomplishing simple things that most people take for granted such as brushing their hair and teeth

I am a nurturing caring attentative person by nature. I love working in health care to help patients and their families to have the best quality of life as possible. I do this type of work not for a paycheck but to make a difference in peoples lives.

What makes me a great caregiver is my passion for people. I became a caregiver at the young age of 14 years old. My grandmother was diagnosed with dementia and my passion for the elderly has continued to grow even now at the age of 20. I love to help other people throughout hardships & that's just one reason I love being a caregiver. I'm proud to say that I've cared for many people that I never thought I'd have the chance to help.
