I am very compassionate with helping people - I enjoy it. I cared for my uncle and great-grandmother before they passed away, and that experience attracted me to this career field.

I'm a dedicated, loyal, dependable mature adult and I love working with older adults and interacting with older adults. I have worked with older adults in three different veteran's clinics, including one now, and also in several assisted living and nursing homes. I have worked, volunteered, and practiced as a personal care provider, activities assistant, and patient services assistant. What has really made me proud in the past, is when a resident asks for me by name to be their sole caregiver because he/she was really pleased with the consistently outstanding service I delivered. I work full-time Monday through Friday, but I'm available on Saturday and Sunday mornings and afternoons.

I am happiest and most fulfilled while caring for others. I fell in love with nursing in 1978 when I started my first job as a Nursing Assistant. I found that I was not only doing a job, I was caring for a person with an extensive life history that I could learn from. People who had family who loved them but were no longer able to care for them. I went on to get my LPN in 1986 and finally RN in 2012. I have provided care in Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Centers, private care in homes, Home Care through agencies and have cared for my patients and their families with integrity and compassion. Aging parents have caused me to reevaluate the need for flexibility and the availability to now also provide care for them. This means the typical nursing block schedule is no longer a good fit for my families needs. I will continue to provide compassionate care for others but it will look different than it has in the past.

Having spent decades of my life caring for my elderly patients and I love every minute of it, Such an honor for me ! Being a trusted caregiver for many years with patients from all walks of life in various stages in life; sometimes with physical/mental decline I offer care that you can trust. I have great compassion for others in some of the most vulnerable times of their lives when sometimes other family members cannot due to their own family and lives. I give those families comfort in knowing that I will do a good job taking care of their most precious loved ones. It was in nursing school that I knew being a caregiver to the elderly was my passion. I love that I can make individuals feel loved even though I'm not actual family but in time I do feel like family as they have become like family to me. I know that when I give attention to my patients that they are receiving the BEST care that I can humanly give them, I know without a doubt that I'm doing what is most comforting and safe for them. It make me feel good to know that I can take a load off of family members while relieving stress and pressure because we know that caring for a family member is exhausting, I've been there and know. I take no shortcuts in the care of my patients always treating others as I would like to be treated and for me that's as if they were my family.

Experienced with G/J tubes, foley catheters, trachs, stomas, Cpap Bi pap vents, seizures medicine administration just to name a few things. My professional caregiving experience dates back from 2011 after I finished my studies in fundamental of caregiving, dementia, mental health, HIV and Aids, nurse delegation, food handling and medication dispensing amongst other vital provider courses. I started and got my hands on experience working in an adult family home taking care of six live in residents for a year. I provided personal care, companionship, and transportation services. I then moved on to an agency that assigned me two clients whom I took care of until they passed on. I was promoted to the lead caregiver where my duties involved not just taking care of vulnerable adults of all ages, but also training other caregivers and stepping in to take care of transitional clients as we found them stable, long-term care providers. It was a post I loved but had to give it up when I moved. I am well trained and state registered in Washington with an active viewable licence online and currently working on getting certified here as well. Not only is nursing my career, but it's my passion. I have always been a caring and compassionate person. I started my medical career as an army medic. I then became a paramedic and have continued to help people of all ages and medical conditions in many different settings. As a registered nurse I have been able to continue to provide care in the emergency room, long term care facility and urgent care. I love to meet new people. I find that most people can find something in common to talk about. I am very proud of my son, and enjoy living close to family.

I have always told others that I not medically inclined until almost three years ago my now 5 year old grand son almost drowned in our pool. Man had given upon him surviving. His parents were told that they would be provided with medically assisted suicide. To this day I have been thankful they did not go that route. I learned how to perform trachea change, g-tube feeding and administer medications via his G-tube, comfort him, I have talked many through and even out of major depression. I cared for my parents and grandmother who was a diabetic and those who had high blood pressure just to mention a few. I realized during these transitions that being a caregiver is such a critical player in a time of need because many family members are unable to stop their day to day lives and provide that much needed attention for their live ones. I am a nurse and have been in for over 35 years in Healthcare Industry. I have worked in every area of nursing there is which has made me very well-rounded in the industry. I've worked as an LPN for 35 years. My experience includes working with children, teens & adults in a hospital, home care, psychiatric & office settings. I love nursing & I love helping people. But, as I age, I want to cut back in hours & limit my lifting abilities. I'm looking for daytime hours during the week, but not to exceed 16-20 hrs/wk. I'm a foster parent to a teenage boy who is participates in after school & church activities & I want to support his interests and supervise him as needed. While I still intend to keep my nursing license current, I would enjoy keeping company of others who need a little helping hand, yet may offer insight or words of wisdom!
