Hello. My name is Toria Gilewala. I have worked within the healthcare industry for over 15 years as a CNA, Direct Support Professional, and Case Manager. I have a strong passion for helping others, and would describe myself, as an advocate for marginalized populations, ambitious, caring, versatile, and hard-working. I became attracted to caregiving after completing a CNA course and clinical rotation (at a local hospital) during my senior year of high school. This experience had a lasting impact on my life, prompting me to work and pursue college degrees within the healthcare industry. My previous work experience consists of working in home health care, hospital, nursing home, and community health center settings, where patient's individual needs varied. The most enjoyable part of being a caregiver is helping to make a difference in the life of others, from different walks of life. I am a hard working mother of 5 . My lasts job i worked 53hrs a week sitting with a high fuctioning 93 yr old male . I really enjoy this type of work. I sat night shift most of the time . I cooked and cleaned and anything i was requested to . I enjoy talking with my patients and listening to their stories . And any request they have i try to do my best to make happen.

I became a caregiver because my grandfather had Alzheimer's before he passed away and I helped take care of him. I know how important it is to the family to have their families taken care of. I think my favorite part of being a caregiver is seeing my individuals accomplish something and them smiling.

I am a hard working mother of 2 girls. I have been caring for my grandmother at various times over the last 8 years since my mom passed away during times of sickness. I have cared for many persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities over the years. I have worked in their homes helping them with every day life skills such as toileting, showers, cooking, house keeping. I enjoyed working with these individuals so much I went back to school so that I could get a job in the social work field to fight for these peoples rights when they do not have a voice or can not raise their hand. I would say that my most personal achievement was getting a person that had shut himself off from the world and not talk to anyone to talk to me and eventually to everyone by me being persistent and not giving up on him. It is a very rewarding job when you can help someone that can not help themselves. It is just my kind nature that I was blessed with that leads me to be a caregiver, I have always felt that I could save the world one person at a time and I continue to try each day. I have a huge heart and the patience of Job and love to learn and share life lessons.

I genuinely enjoy providing loving, passionate, quality care to elderly or disabled individuals. I watch daily input and output of the individual to assure ongoing success and happiness. I can provide grooming, bathing, dental hygiene, preparing and serving meals throughout the day. I can clean his or her home to the liking of the individual. I have explained treatment procedures, medication risks, special diets, and physician instructions to the individual as directed. I am CPR and First Aid certified if wound care or other situations should arise.
