Good day. I am a 56 yr old father of 4, experienced caregiver. I attended Baylor University in the 80's for a couple of years before enlisting in the USAF. I worked with students with disabilities for Northside ISD for many years. For a few years now, I've immersed myself in the seniors care field and have devoted my work to assist the families of: a WWII 94yr old veteran with dementia and blindness, a 63 yr old retired DEA agent with Parkinson's symptoms, a charming southern lady with fall risks, an army veteran with Alzheimer's, and a former Texas cowboy with post-traumatic brain injury. I'm well versed in providing many services required in at-home caregiving. I have helped with everything from mobility, light housekeeping/meal prep, meds mngmnt, and bathing to companionship, bathing, wound care, and physical/occupational/speech therapy exercises. My name is Leah Creamer. I have been an RN since 1987, and furthered my education and abilities to help people by becoming a Women's Health NP in 1994. It is my nature, since childhood to want to help people, so being a nurse was an easy career choice and has been a very rewarding career. I am the type person that sees each person as a whole being, not just the medical problem he or she is facing. I see beyond the medical diagnoses and what the "prescription" is to make someone better. I consider support systems (or lack there of), emotional status, physical limitations, access to food at home, organization of the home to make independence as feasible as possible, and other variables that all play in to someone getting well ( or at least living to his or her optimal self). I enjoy taking the extra time to make everything as easy as possible for the person in need. I pride myself on patient education and on letting my actions show how much I care.....and the person feeling like someone cares for them is sometimes the best medicine. I am signing up to participate in this program to help people, and want to help in any way I can, not just necessarily in the capacity of a nurse. My being a nurse is just an added bonus. I will do anything from organizing, to shopping , to setting up the home to someone newly coming home in a wheelchair or on a walker, to nursing duties, to laundry, to shaving, to fixing hair, to taking walks, to pill organizing, to cleaning, and the list goes on!

Hi, I am currently a nursing student at Baylor University. I have not yet decided what exact area I would like to go into but I have completed internships to gain experience and hopefully see what I enjoy best. During the summer I began caregiving for a family friend and really enjoyed being of service for someone who truly needed it. I learned patients of that age need gentle and thoughtful care and someone who will take the time to make them feel seen and heard. I love being able slow down and sit and enjoy the little things that bring smiles to faces.

The ability to care for someone is the greatest achievement for me. I am a compassionate person who believes in providing excellent care to my patients. I'm also currently a licensed vocational nurse, who is studying to become an RN this year.
