I been working in the home health care field well over 10 years now. I'm very supportive and caring. I've been fortunate to work with some great families in the Ann Arbor communities and beyond. I love being able to put smiles on others faces and just being there to lend a helping hand at times for others in need. I'm extremely dependable, compassionate,and nurturing. I was 15 years old and just started my freshman year of high school when I was placed in a class called Intergenerational Studies. For 2 hours each day I was taken to the nursing home called Golden Years there in Elgin, Tx. I started off just getting residents from their rooms to come and do activities with me. But it wasn't long and I was working side by side with CNAs, RNs, and at one point the DON had me shadow her for 2 weeks. I just got really interested and a few years after graduation and having my son, I pursued a CNA certification and was assigned the hospice hall and the "lockdown unit" which was occupied by the more violent patients and those with conditions such as Alzheimer's and/or parkinson's, as well as those with behavioral health conditions. I honestly just fell in love with everything about caring for the elderly. Even the hard and very emotional side of the care I provide is something I wouldn't want to stop doing. I would love to get my CNA back but just haven't attempted to do so since my husband passed in 2011. Since my high school days I have worked with all ages of people, from a 2 year old little princess to a 98 year old gentleman I referred to as Fred Astaire due to them looking like twins. He loved it and would smile so big when I walked in every day; and every day he would say "Good morning Ms. Judy (Garland). You feel like dancing the day away?" It's things like that for which I love my work. Please feel free to ask anything, I would love to tell everything now but there is just so much I've been blessed to have experienced with so many different people I'd never be done.

Hello! My name is Desiree and I have been caregiving professionally since 2008 beginning with my cousin with developmental disabilities. My first job after high school was housekeeping in nursing home and hospital and I always found myself trying to interact with the clients, whether it just be conversations or pushing them back to their rooms after meals. I have mostly worked in CILA homes taking care of the developmentally disabled and I absolutely enjoyed every moment and every prrsonality I ever met! Never a full moment, I began as a DSP and was a house manager for the same company. I have also worked some side jobs taking care of the elderly, a couple until they passed, and another until she just didn't need the extra help Amy more. I have wanted be a caregiver for as long as I can remember, I had a grandpa that had lost both legs, one due to a stroke and the other because of Gangrene. My grandmother need a lot of help with him from changing diapers to helping with feeding once he got a feeding tube, and I was always their! I don't feel like myself unless I'm helping someone else live their best life!

My name is Juanita P. Rodriguez , I have been a caregiver for 15 + yrs . Mostly for family members like my grandmother, my father, two brothers my mother and an auntie. My attraction for caregiving came about when I started taking care of my Father who had diabetes and had other health issues I come from a large family of seven siblings me being the youngest a care facility was never an option as my mother and I took the role of being his caregivers until he passed away in 1997. Soon after my grandmother who had dementia and heart problems needed homecare as well. That's just the beginning of my start to caregiving. I love helping people and being a part of making things as easy and comfortable as possible. I am proud of how I have grown in being a caregiver learning how each person is different and special in their own way. In 2010 I had the privileged to work with an army veteran who was very kind and caring but very frail. I enjoyed being a part of his last days we became really good friends as he didn't have family. My traits as a caregiver are helping house cleaning, meal prep, bathing/ dressing, companionship and occasional errands . One thing to keep in mind is I can't do weekends .

I come from a long line of nurses and Cna's I like to say it's just in me to have the passion to take of or help heal others, I use to deny It and run away from it til I realized I was a natural when it came to being a healthcare provider.
