I became a caregiver because I enjoy taking care of people and doing what I can to make a difference in their lives. I like being a caregiver because it is a more home type setting and hours are flexible. I am proud that as a mom I was able to guide my son successfully through school and make it to college. I am a 38 year old mother of four who enjoys writing sporta and being a helping hand.

It takes someone who is caring and compassionate as well as knowledgeable and professional to be a successful caregiver. Help manage patient schedules and ensure all doctor's appointments are kept. Perform light housekeeping duties and meal preparation. Administer medications following doctor's instructions. Help patients complete prescribed therapy and exercise routines. Remove safety hazards and report issues to management and/or family.

I am a 45 year old single female that absolutely loves dealing and monitoring the elderly. They are truly a delight. I am very proud of the accomplishments I have made for myself as a graduate of GSU. I'm a very hardworking loyal punctual sincere and very dedicated person to any job I hold.

I went home to take care of my father, as his daughter. After spending time and caring for my dad I found out about amber care and hospice the staff showed me how to take care and learn about his illness. what I like was that it taught me to understand about what elderlies go through as they get older. it showed to be more responsible for the jobs that came along with taking care of my father. Taking on the tasks that I've never had to do, and learning how to successfully achieve them, was one of my biggest achievements throughout the whole process. I'm one of 15 siblings that my parents had. I live in Rio Rancho N.M with my husband and daughter. I've been employed with Walmart now for 5 years. My last child is a senior this year and will be turning 18. After losing my mom and dad I feel like I need to do more. My husband is 62 and I am 53 we both have raised 4 children and with my husband getting older I feel the need to take care of both of us financially at the same time spend as much time with him as possible. After losing my parents and having to go to court, fighting for my fathers rights and belongings, while seeing from my own siblings what they can do to our parents during the time that they need us the most was very hurtful knowing that our parents raised us with respect and manners. they were there for all of us no matter how big or small the problem was. I have been in the medical/caregiving field a total of 7 years now. I believe you have to have a heart to do this job (so to say). Not many are capable of doing what us caregivers do, it's more than just a job or a paycheck, It's making a difference in someone else's life whom are not able to do for themselves. I have worked for 2 well know home health care companies in the Portland/Gresham area and have also worked through Aging and Disability. I have experience and training using Hoyer lifts, Meal prep, Bathing, Dressing, Medication administration, Cleaning, Transportation, Errands/Appointment setting. Basically anything one would typically need assistance with. Although, Unfortunately, I am not able to assist with toileting and transferring at this time.

My sister inspired me to be a caregiver because of all the joy she gave the elderly and I wanna put the smiles on their faces also. I enjoy interacting with the elderly and spending time. Accomplishing my goals I had set for the day and making sure that the client I am working with that day is satisfied and the family is happy and safe is a personal achievement I am proud of when I am working with the elderly.
