The reason I became a caregiver is that I love helping others and my Mother she had M.S. wanting to learn more about how to care for her needs and I did not want her in a rest home and I have seen a lot of caregivers mistreat clients and I just didn't agree with it and for those reasons I don't like working at a facility that's why I choose to do in home care to give the best care to my clients the love and nourishment that is truly deserve to them.

I am a great caregiver because I have a passion of helping others. To have family members or the patient themselves tell me they love me and to see a smile on their faces is why I do this job.

Caregiving is unlike anything I have ever done, and never thought it was something I could do. My degree is in business, but I always enjoyed the interaction with clients, coworkers, just people in general. Unprepared, and unexpected came the decision to care for a close friend newly diagnosed with cancer given 6 months to live. I could not turn my back to him like his family, leaving him unable to withstand the disease, much less cook, bathe, or drive. His funds were quickly diminishing, and had no health insurance. This is when I discovered my purpose, but it was not easy, and a lot was instinct. Honestly, it was dealing with getting him the right treatment after obtaining insurance that was the most difficult of tasks, and applying for SSI correctly to expedite the process to buy groceries, and necessities. The physical care was gentle, but efficient, and empathized with his situation as much, was possible. Together, we turned 6 months into two years, because he knew he was not alone. Caregiving is more than just the care you provide, it is letting the person know someone, sincerely, cares about them and feels safe in their presence. Family members/loved ones also, need to trust they can go to work, or take a break without worry. Wanting to provide the best care enrolled in the CNA course that follows state requirements for procedure and knowledge. All I want is to do what I love in its benefit to the client, because they are all that matters.

Hello, my name is Gina Matthews. I am very much interested in applying for this position. I am looking to work as a Care Giver in the Reno area. I have worked in home care as a Care Giver as well as an LVN. I have also worked in nursing homes as a CNA and an LVN. I have always enjoyed caring for people. This first position that I took was when I was in High School. I can do light house work, run errands, laundry, including bed making, prepare meals, medications and or medication reminders, do the grocery shopping, provide companion ship, etc. My mother has dementia. I have plenty of patience as well. My last position was with a couple who were both 97yrs. I was with them for two years. I did just about everything and I enjoyed it!! I have excellent references as well.

I began Medical Assisting in 2004 and continued on to Massage Therapy. I love helping others and it warms my soul to help those in need. Empathy and compassion. Working with people in a home care setting, it is essential that a caregiver feel the desire to want to help. Attentiveness,Dependability, and Trustworthiness. Someone that can be counted on to be there. If the caregiver says he or she is going to be there to provide home care every Thursday morning, then the caregiver shows up, unless there is an emergency. Those needing home care services need a reliable and dependable caregiver.

I became a caregiver because my sister was diagnosed with cancer in August 2009. After a successful military career as a Master Aircraft Maintenance Scheduler and a Maximum Security Corrections Officer in Wyoming, my entire world shifted...I became aware of her need for full-time care and assisted her with activities of daily living. I found the work challenging, gratifying, and interesting. When I relocated to Texas, I began working for a home health agency in Tyler, TX where I provided care for clients for over 4 years. I have pride in always meeting the clients needs and developing a healthy, professional relationship with them that enables me to provide needed care while preserving their dignity and independence. My fondest memory during my caregiver experiences was working with a young man with end-stage AIDS. His emotional need to maintain some elements of control while surrendering so much physical control due to the trajectory of his illness was a unique challenge. Because music was so important to him and represented an emotional outlet, I was able to use this mutual link to keep him engaged and motivated until his death. Where friends and family were unable to reach him on a personal level, I helped them and him to reconnect through this basic experience. I enjoy being a Caregiver because it allows me to see the best in people at the worst times in their lives...it just takes patience, professionalism, and understanding.

The first time I became a caregiver, I did so because it was easier to find the job than any other. But as I did the job and got to understand what it means I loved it more. it is true that this is the job where one is most appreciated by both the client and the family. I love the fact that I am able to help others achieve doing what they cannot do on their own. This gives me inner satisfaction than any other job. For example, although I worked the last five years as a pharmacy technician, I kept my part time job as caregiver with Caring Companions. And I love the fact that a schedule in Care giving can be as flexible as one may choose. Not so in most other jobs. I mostly get along with family members of a client because I am easy to work with. I love my job and I strive to be on time. I do not call in unless I have to or must. I can say I am very dependable. I am friendly and compassionate, qualities I believe very essential for a Caregiver.
