My name is Shantell. I am a proud mother of three wonderful adult children and blessed with three amazing grandchildren. I have been working in health care since a young age, starting off being a health care aide for my blind grandmother at the tender age of 8 years old. From there on I found my passion in life. During my years as working as a personal care aide, I had the opportunity to take care of my parents during their last days. In doing so, I was able to gain a personal insight on the importance of having the right person taking care of your loved ones, which gave me an even greater passion for the work I do. I realized the importance of giving each and every person who I take care of the same love and care as I gave my loved ones while taking care of them. As well as the respect and honor to have the opportunity to be a part of their life.

I have been an emergency technician for the past 26 years. I took care of a vast array of patients including many who were in critical condition. I recently left the ER to be the caretaker for a husband and wife. I am responsible for bathing, cooking, grocery shopping, medication distribution, and household cleaning. Its a joy being able to help keep them out of a nursing home. The wife has end stage COPD and the husband has Parkinsons. I am especially proud that because of my efforts they are still living at home. The relationship I have built with them has been well worth it too. The husband has even given me the nickname Christmas because he looks forward to seeing me every morning.

I'm very outgoing, I love to talk and make sure there's a smile on others faces, I love interacting and getting to know my clients. What attracted me to be a caregiver was I took care of my aunt while she had cancer and I love making sure they are okay and don't feel alone. I enjoying getting know them and learning what their needs are and making sure they know that they have somebody!

I became a caregiver 5 years ago fresh out high school after helping my grandma through her breast cancer process. I became a caregiver to help others and to give them something to look forward to. When you're sick a simple smile means a lot. What I like most about caregiving is the smile or thank you I get from my patients. And knowing I helped that person feel better. I really have a passion for helping others, I started out just helping my grandmother around her house when I was 16. It's really nice to help others and elderly after most have spent their lives raising their kids and taking care of a family. I promise I will do my best to take great care of your loved one as if they were my grandmother, as I would want the same for my family.

What makes me a great caregiver is my bubbly personality and my willingness work! I became a caregiver when I was 19 because I grew up watching my mother and listening to how proud the job made her.
