15 years ago I was in desperate need of a caregiver for my mother. It was very difficult to find an honest, caring, trustworthy person to care for her. I went through several different caregivers, including a family friend that didn't work out for the job. I ended up quitting my job and caring for her till she died 9 years later. At this point in my life I want to be able to help someone that needs special care because I know the negative impact it can take on the entire family when the care of a loved one is not being met. I think the sick and elderly are at our mercy to care for them.

I am a certified home health care provider. My 22 years experience include taking care of individuals with mental and physical disability in their own homes. I also worked as a Training Specialist in a workshop setting, where we trained people with mental retardation and behavior problems in simple jobs that would generate income for them and keep them occupied. My duties included providing personal care, grooming, bathing, cooking, transportation, medication administration, and monitoring individuals for safety. My joy is derived from making an improvement in people's lives.

I remember going to nursing homes with my Mom as a child and singing to her patients. My Mother was a nurse and my Dad was a paramedic as well as several other family members. I love working with patients for a long duration of time so that we get an opportunity to bond together and it helps build up trust and rapor between nurse and patient.
