I love caring for people. I started working in child care when I was 13, and that job was the highlight of my teenage years. I was blessed with 4 children of my own that are all grown, and also blessed with the opportunity to work/volunteer in an Adult Foster Care home on a 200 acre farm in Northern Michigan for nearly 10 years. Nothing brings me more joy than bringing joy to others. I am very loving, patient, and knowledgeable, with a great deal empathy for the feelings of others. I'm also willing to work in many different parts of the islands, preferably quiet areas, so please don't let location stop you from reaching out to me. Caregiving became my passion when I was asked to help a family member whose health was deteriorating and would not allow an unknown caregiver to help. I am very warm and compassionate by nature, with empathy and understanding of what someone must feel knowing they have lost their independence...of sorts, so I make it a point to make them feel that they are strong and independent I am there to just assist them in what they want to do. I have been fortunate to have a way of helping a person who doesn't want help to welcome it with encouragement and praise. My proudest achievement to date was to get a man the has severe Parkinson's, who could walk but just had no desire too try, as it was just to much effort, too walk daily and now rarely uses a wheelchair.. just his walker. The joy on the face of someone who looks forward to the time they have with you I priceless.

I know I am a very excellent Caregiver because I have a kind heart, humble, honest, friendly, patient, and I have a wonderful time working and helping with elderly people. I am a very hard worker and dedicated to my job. I love what I do dearly and I care so much in regards to elders. I have been doing this all my life with many of my elders including my grandfather, grandmother, mother, father, grand aunts, and grand uncles. I have so much experience and enjoy giving back to elders. I love what I do because it brings me happiness and so much joy!

I believe what makes me a great caregiver is that I can manage pretty much anything. I'm reliable, responsible and can be trusted to use discretion to make the right decisions, when family isn't available. I try to encourage clients to perform mind-stimulating activities such as reading, playing board games, and posting reminders for important tasks in visible areas. I have created scrapbooks with pictures of the client's family to help the client recognize their family members. I am proud to say that I have emotionally supported my clients, hold their hand and find the right words in moments of difficulty. At the same time, I am able to control my own emotions to ensure they do not increase the anxiety of my clients or their loved ones. What I enjoy most about caregiving is meeting new people and getting to know a little about them. Each one is special in their own way and each one is always a learning experience for me, in my personal life skills.

I have been a nurse aide/ caregiver for over 10 years now and still currently working with private clients. I had worked with over 20 clients throughout my career most of them had past and some few been transferred in a care home or a facility. I used to have a care home for 10 years with my older sister. We recently gave up on the care home when our last patient for over 10 yrs past away last year. We stop the business since it took so much of our time. Experience on grooming, dressing and toileting, assistance with walking, transfers, turning and repositioning and the use of assistive devices, meal preparation, and feeding or assistance with feeding. I have been providing companionship & activities the client enjoys and performing physical and cognitive exercises, performing light housekeeping, laundry, linen changes, running errands, and shopping for groceries and household supplies. I love what I do because I love helping my clients defy the odds in the comfort on their home.

I'm passionate about helping the elderly enjoy life, even in the little things. With each of my clients, I shared my whole being to provide them with the best care filled with love and compassion. Helping those in need have always been a trait of mine. For as long as I remember, I have always put others first before me. I have always been involved w/ elderly care starting w/ my father's declining health as a teenager . I also prepped great teams and have been a lead caregiver over the years besides a teamworker . A great team matters for the quality of care for a client.
