My name is Krystal Orris, I'm 37 yrs old. I have been a Geriatric care specialist for 17 yrs. I became a GCS in 2005 to help work in Geriatric Care with the hopes of one day becoming a nurse. I am a certified caregiver for 20 plus years, nonactive LPN. I have experience with long term care, group home, hospice care, private home and live in care. I am a certified Medication trainer, as well as managing facilities and Activities. I have devoted myself to caring for others as it is my personal passion. I have been taking care of my parents since September of 2020 doing in home care for my parents. I have experience teaching exercise class since 1999 in gentle stretching and Yoga/Pilates. It has been a great experience giving them aid in their last years of life. I have a BLS CPR certification that is valid until 9/2021. It has been a very rewarding experience being with them during their final years and taking on their care of them and make them smile. Although most of my previous positions have been in the administrative assistant position I have truly enjoyed being a part of making a difference in elderly persons life and being there for them to help them with their care and making life a little easier for them.

What makes me a good caregiver is I take pride in my work, I take care of your loved ones just as you would expect. I see my clients as I would my own family. What attracted me to become a caregiver the last 6 years is when I was little girl my grandmother needed more help around the house and full filling her regular routine. Growing up my father needed the same help as he was bed bound I refused to let him go to a nursing home so I made sure to help him in anyway I could. The main thing that I enjoy most about being a caregiver is knowing that families loved ones are being taken care of and not being neglected or abused. It makes me feel whole that I can bring light back into someone's life wether it be just providing companionship or making my clients feel they are not alone. One of my biggest personal achievements I am proud of would be being a mom, taking care of my kids and also having the extra passion to take care of someone else warms my heart.

I love taking care of the elderly because when my grandparents were alive I would help my mother take care of them, this is how I realized this was my calling. Caring for my grandparents gave me first-hand experience in caregiving. When I take care of others, I am reminded of my grandparents and hope to provide the same love and care for others.
