Hello, my name is Melba! My experience with caregiving started the year of 2010. I started caring seniors to make a difference in their lives. For people with high levels of care needed, my support in invaluable. Treating them with attentive, proper, and respectful care is a significant role to ensure they retain their dignity and independence during the latter stages of life. For me, helping seniors and others is a great accomplishment and feels highly rewarding, knowing that I could turn a unbearable day into a great one. Caregiving taught me knowledge from listening to experiences and stories one might gladly share. Memories are priceless and can give a wonderful insight and transport you to a time from a person's different perspective. To me, having that kind of opportunity gives life more meaning. As we can connect with an individual in such a way, we also learn to appreciate and be more empathetic towards others. And to be an encouraging helping hand when someone needs it the most!

I enjoy helping people and once my grandmother and parents needed assistance with aging my career shifted from teaching to caregiving. I enjoy getting to know people and learning about them, while caring for them. I am proud of raising my family and completing school. I have traveled all over the United States and the world, and I enjoy reading.

Out of 6 siblings, I was the only one taking care of my Mom with the assistance of my daughter who is now a medical doctor and now in the university pursuing her masters degree in public health here in the U.S. I feel so much comfortable taking of people either young or old. It is my joy to contribute positively to general care of elderly people. I personally relate very well with my client and their families, that most of them treat me like members of their families. I still have contact with most of the families I have worked for. They sometimes take me out for my birthdays celebrations , some calls on my birthdays, some sends messages on my birthdays. I think this a great achievement, because if I did not do good jobs for them, they will not remember me to give me such wonderful honors.

I try to be sympathetic to others as well as myself. Because I would like to be treated as well as I treat my clients when I become older. Being helpful and being needed. Holding someone hand while they were making their transition.

I am compassionate about filling my day with positivity. I am dedicated highly motivated and always willing to lend a helping hand. Being a caregiver is rewarding when you can bring a smile to someone face just by showing small kindness. My goal is at the end of the day that someone's day is better then yesterday.
