I am 20 years old. I have been an STNA since i have been a junior (2016). I have worked in the health care field for 3/4 years now. I have done home health care, nursing homes , & assisted living. I absolutely love my job. I have worked in the nursing home with respiratory, dementia, all different kinds.

I started my career in Health Care right out of High school. I have over 20 years experience. I have worked Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Hospice. With that I have seen a lot & been taught by some amazing leaders. I go into each home with the attitude of this could be my Parent/ Grandparent, Treat them as how i would want my family cared for. My favorite thing about being a caregiver is the history of my patents. It brings so much joy to see them smile and relive there favorite memories of the past. I held my Certified Nursing assistant license for many years & only gave it up when I choose to not work in Nursing Homes. I keep up with all the latest training & have many certificates.

Although, I no longer practice licensed nursing, I have maintained the skills and will always have the expertise I gained during that time. Two personality traits that have helped me within care giving is that I am very patient and my demeanor is very calm. The great stories and advice from previous residents are what have attracted me into the caregiving side. I love spending quality time and being there to be a support system for the residents. One personal achievement I am proud of is that one of my pieces of poetry that I wrote back in September was selected to be published in a poetry book.

The thing I enjoy most about being a caregiver is building relationships and watching my patients succeed. I am very loving, I take my time with things, and over all give the best care possible.

I'm a very upbeat and positive person! I've been a caregiver for four years now and love helping others. I was attracted to being a caregiver because I've always felt like my job on earth is to help others and make them happy. I have plenty of experience and I'm currently a senior in nursing school!

Being a Caregiver I have compassion and care for my clients, I go above and beyond for them. Reaching out to those who need the help is always rewarding and a good feeling. What makes me a great caregiver is that I take my time and sit down and talk to the person im caring for. Ask them what they like and dislike and how I can help them without making them feel helpless. I always want to care for people since I was a small child. Growing up watching my mom do it and then having to take care of my own grandmother while she was battling lung cancer. What I enjoy about being a caregiver is that you can learn so much about people that everyone is different. Learning how they grew up and the goals they made makes me want to better myself as a person. My personal goal i have met? This hits hard. I was a young mom at 15 so I was put threw a lot of hoops. My biggest goal was actually getting my GED going to college and becoming the caring loving person I am today. My kids always make strive to do better and be a great teacher to them. One day I'll be a medical assistant.
