I have been a caregiver for 3 years now and I can honestly say it is where my heart resides. I also just graduated with my Bachelors degree and plan on furthering my education to become an Occupational Therapist. Therefore, caring for people and improving a person's physical and mental health is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I am compassionate, empathetic, reliable and experienced. I'm great at what I do, because I truly enjoy it. I would love for you to reach out to my previous employer for any questions, concerns or validation. Feel free to email me as well. For me, being a caregiver isn't just a career. It's my calling in life. I feel as though it's what I was put here to do. My very first job at age 18 was as a caregiver for a lady with MS. I cared for her as a live in for nearly three years with one day off weekly. I then moved to direct care for disabled individuals and have accumulated several years experience. I am certified in first aid/ CPR, medication administration, insulin trained, and have a wide path of experience to fall back on. I was also caregiver for my mother for five years until she passed from ALZ. I am currently attending college studying Human and Social Services to better provide for those I work with and for. I believe that being a caregiver requires a special individual, just as special as those I care for. I have always felt that the individuals I have met and worked with have each been a blessing in their own way and I am the lucky one for having them in my heart and life. I view my clients as family, nothing less. I am dedicated, sincere, patient, full of good humor, not easily upset, and my greatest joy is making others happy. That's the biggest benefit of all. Thanks for listening! - Lori

I feel I am a great caregiver because I have all my life cared for ones; beginning with being the middle of seven children I was responsible for caring for those under me and then into marriage; I cared for 4 children. After my divorce I continued caring for my four children at the same time living with my elderly grandmother of 93, who had Aleizmiers and her sister, 88 who had breast cancer. Working closely with different agencies including Hospice, I was able to give them the quality care they deserved for as long as I was able to do so. I also have a friend who has MS and she lived right across the hallway from me and I have over the last four years enjoyed helping and caring for her. I have a heart for the hurting and disable. I understand the challenges involved in caring for them and would like to pursue a career in this field. What I like about being a caregiver is being able to make them smile, to remove for a season of time the reality of their present state and help them see a lighter side to life. I combine care with comedy and wit and make what is work - now relationship. When I came to take care of my grandmother she was pretty unrespondent to everyone. After about a month there, she would talk more and she began singing. She still didn't know who I was, but her who demeanor had changed and she was more pleasant and cooperative. I am a mother of four and a grandmother of 15. I love people and though not an outgoing person by personality. I
