My biggest strengths as a caregiver are my patience and compassion. I treat everyone with the respect they deserve and I am able to find a way to relate to and get along with everyone. I started my career as a caregiver first as a direct support professional for people with developmental disabilities, and I have since then transitioned to senior care with a focus on disabled veterans. I absolutely love this line of work, andI really enjoy being able to engage with people and assist them with daily living.

I have been a caregiver for 3 years now and I can honestly say it is where my heart resides. I also just graduated with my Bachelors degree and plan on furthering my education to become an Occupational Therapist. For me, being a caregiver isn't just a career. It's my calling in life. I feel as though it's what I was put here to do. My very first job at age 18 was as a caregiver for a lady with MS. I cared for her as a live in for nearly three years with one day off weekly. I then moved to direct care for disabled individuals and have accumulated several years experience. I am certified in first aid/ CPR, medication administration, insulin trained, and have a wide path of experience to fall back on. I was also caregiver for my mother for five years until she passed from ALZ. I am currently attending college studying Human and Social Services to better provide for those I work with and for. I believe that being a caregiver requires a special individual, just as special as those I care for. I have always felt that the individuals I have met and worked with have each been a blessing in their own way and I am the lucky one for having them in my heart and life. I view my clients as family, nothing less. I am dedicated, sincere, patient, full of good humor, not easily upset, and my greatest joy is making others happy. That's the biggest benefit of all. I love caring for people, you can learn so much from them. I have met so many wonderful people and about their lives. I have done care since 1998, nursing home, assisted living and private care. I am proud when I can meet all their needs.

I've been a state tested nurse aide for 25 yrs. I love being able to help others, I have lots of experience. When I was young my grandmother use to take me to work with her she was also a stna and she always told me to treat them no different then I would her and grandpa. I'm very compassionate and love being an stna! I've worked in the nursing home setting for yrs. I'm currently working for Hospice and to me it's an amazing honor to be able to take care of others loved ones.
