I am 40 yrs of age. I have been a caregiver for over 6 yrs and I really love what I do. I love to help people, I am passionate and hardworking. What I really love about being a caregiver is that it enables me to interact with different people from all aspects of life and carer is something that I strongly feel that flows naturally through me.

I got into caregiving as a fluke and instantly fell in love with it and the people that I have been able to help and care for. I've always had interest in the medical field and I learned that caregiving is fairly similar to it, I saw that through caregiving I create a personal connection and that's why I chose caregiving. I enjoy the little moments about caregiving, when a person served says something unexpected and it creates a happy memory/moment for us both. A personal achievement I am proud of is taking first place in bodybuilding competitions, it's the prep that I am most proud of, not quitting when it's hard or when I'm tired.

I became a caregiver after I helped my Aunt with my Great-Grandmother, she had a fast progressing form of Alzheimer's.. I realized then that caring for others was what I was born to do.. Who Am I? My name is Garret and I am a health care professional in my early 20's born and raised in northern California. My time living in nor'cal has only been interrupted once to attend Basic combat training in Oklahoma; because of this I have been known to bond well with veterans and seniors of a 'rural' disposition. I consider the morals and values learnt during my service to be the foundation of the man I am today. Who I am. My career in healthcare began post enlistment, I became a certified EMT to expand on the knowledge and training I received in the military. After becoming an EMT and developing my professional skills and experience I branched out to further my medical knowledge. I was sponsored by a local business to attend a school provided by the Red Cross. There I became a certified nursing assistant and graduated with honours in the class. It is my hope to enroll in an LVN program next year to pave the way for more opportunities and experience. My desire is to specialize in wound care.
