My name Z-dell, I have been a certified nursing assistant for 27 years, and still counting... I'm well rounded I have with nursing homes, assisted living, private duty, hospitals 1:1, mental health, special needs adults and children, autism, cerebral palsy individuals. When you as an individual in the health care field, you have to truly CARE, about the people you are responsible for at the time whom you are giving care to but that's in general in life, you have to LOVE people. And TRUE LOVE come from GOD... We have to place CHRIST first, in all we do, it will make you great at whatever level your expertise is, I will honestly tell you that is why I'm GOOD at what I do as a CAREGIVER.
I have always loved working with people and people have always taken to me nicely. I am currently in nursing school for my BSN because I want to be able to help people more. I smile a lot and people tell me that my smile makes them feel better. I have been exposed to people with all types of conditions and I have seen a lot.
I love to be able to help people, make them smile and make them happy. I have always loved to be able to help people feel better and help the get well. When growing up my grandfather had a stroke and was like a dementia patient. I was two when my grandmother started babysitting me, so she could stay home with her husband. We had a special connection, he wouldn't go to therapy. We learned to walk, talk and do everything together. When growing up I decided that I wanted to be a nurse or do something to help sick and elderly people. I really love to help them to be able to accomplish things that they think they cannot do anymore or find away to help them feel like they can do something still, even if its folding wash cloths. I have always tried to make them feel as if they have family even when their family can't be there. Oh being able to help so many families with the end of their family members life, wven when they are on hospice. I have always made it my goal to keep the resident and thier family as comfortable as possible.

In 1994 I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome. It is a disease that paralyzed me and shut down everything to where I was on life support. I had to communicate through my eyes only. It was then I decided I wanted to work in medical field. I can relate to some clients as far as losing independence and having to rely on strangers to help you. I make it a point to treat every client in my care as if they were one of my family members. I've been told that I have a kind heart and there is a certain satisfaction I get from helping people , even if its the smallest task.
Hello I'm 27 years of age and I love being there to assist with the elderly simply bc I had to watch my grandmother go through so much with brain cancer, dementia, and not being able to care for herself. That made me realize the gift I had been given to take care of the disabled and challenged elderly.
I became an caregiver because i wanted to give back to my community by helping those who are not capable or families that are in need of care. Someone has came into my families life to help my own family at one point when we needed care for my aunt and granny. With assisting with the caregivers I learned that it was my calling. I enjoy and love what I do as being helpful to some difficult situations. My personality fits this type of work due to me being able to connect with love ones or their families by giving companionship and being sincere with my work. Just being able to come into someone(s) life to help a loved one to get care for in the comfort in their own home. Always try to make sure the loved one is comfortable but most importantly they are getting the care they need.
