Hello, my name is Melba! My experience with caregiving started the year of 2010. I started caring seniors to make a difference in their lives. For people with high levels of care needed, my support in invaluable. Treating them with attentive, proper, and respectful care is a significant role to ensure they retain their dignity and independence during the latter stages of life. For me, helping seniors and others is a great accomplishment and feels highly rewarding, knowing that I could turn a unbearable day into a great one. Caregiving taught me knowledge from listening to experiences and stories one might gladly share. Memories are priceless and can give a wonderful insight and transport you to a time from a person's different perspective. To me, having that kind of opportunity gives life more meaning. As we can connect with an individual in such a way, we also learn to appreciate and be more empathetic towards others. And to be an encouraging helping hand when someone needs it the most!

Yeah we all can ever be the same but I have been given the grace to be able to handle and work with some seniors that are a bit difficult, but at the end of it all, we all became friends and family. Am a very emotional person that feels whatever my clients are feeling also., and just love to be sure that, my clients are ok anytime any day! Caring has been my passion since I was little as my parents told me. I love my job as a caregiver simply because it's my passion to care!!! I have many seniors that are still alive but still want me to care for them just because of our relationship, but because of my schooling, and areas they are,won't just allow me to do that, but I still connect with them on phones. Taking care of seniors is a privilege for me because it makes me remember that, one day, am gonna be like them and this makes me want to care for them, better than anyone! Being a senior isn't a sin but a blessing!!! The most reason why all seniors need a good caregiver like me!

I have a little over 8 years experience as a caregiver. I received my CNA from Joliet Junior College in 2008 and did private in home care for 2 years until I got pregnant with my second child and ended up having complications that put me on full bed rest. After I had my daughter I decided to be a stay at home mom. I went back to doing home care in 2015 and have been with the same family ever since. My CNA did expire due to me taking that extended amount of time off and I have never looked into if it was at all possible to get it reinstated because I never needed it. I also was previously CPR certified but that has expired as well but I would have no problem getting re-certified if need be. I have experience in Hospice Care, Dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, COPD, Anxiety, Depression and PTSD. I can do meal prepping, cooking, light cleaning, run errands, transport to Dr's appts, medication dispensing, bathing, grooming, Etc. The most important thing is be there for companionship.

I was a nurturer from inception. I love caring for people and helping them maintain the life they are accustomed to. I have taken care of my mom for 11 years. I am big on nutrition for health but will cook whatever is requested. I am a retired engineer so I relate well with all ages. I am good at ADLs, med reminders, hospice, companionship, gardening, cleaning and cooking.

When you work with someone who needs home care it is important that you are patient and understanding. Reliable. A great caregiver is someone that can be counted on to be there. For example, if they say they will be there, then they show up. Trustworthy. Most people who need home care services are in a vulnerable position. Because they are inviting someone into their home to be near their valuables. Flexible. As with most things in life, needs may change and unexpected events can happen. So, it's important that a good caregiver can go with the flow. I was attracted to being a caregiver once my grandmother got sick and I had to take care of her . I enjoy meeting new people and being able to care for people that's in need of help.
