Hello! I am graduating in December from Benedictine College and will be staying in Atchison until May, so I am looking around for a job during that time. I have been studying pre-physical therapy and have just been accepted into KU Med Physical Therapy program. I am CPR and First Aid certified and I have experience as a 24-hour caretaker. I love to cook, go on walks, and make DIY crafts. I am certified in Teaching Level One Yoga and I love helping with strength exercises and encouraging activity.

I am a caregiver. I cook and I clean and I communicate. I am detail oriented and open minded to every families individuality. I am capable of toileting and know how to utilize a gait belt and hoyer lifts. I can assist with bathing toileting medication reminders laundry running errands following diet restrictions in meal prep health monitoring following a care plan and communication with doctor patient and family members if requested. I also have extensive experience with dementia patient care as well as catheter care. I am a solid emotional support and stable companion.

I have always been interested in jobs that deal with the care of a persons lifestyle and I never hesitate when it comes to lending a hand to someone who needs it. I am very flexible with schedules and dealing with different clients, and I can easily adapt to new environments and the surroundings. I have experience in both home care and in a skilled nursing facility. My favorite part of my job on top of helping others is getting to know the resident I am caring for. As a caregiver you can spend more time with your client getting to know them better, which makes caring for them more of like a hobby than a job.

I was drawn to this field when I was younger, I would take care my father after his stroke and also my adopted grandparents on there death beds when I was in school still. I feel suited to this field because I am very caring, passionate, loving, understanding, kind, fast learner, and patient. I enjoy being a caregiver the most because when the client has made a acheviement and thwy are so pleased and happy, that's what motivates me more is seeing there happiness and them achieving, but also the stories they will tell of things that they have done is so pleasing to hear. When a client has made a achieved then I have met one my goals for that client. But if I can get a client to smile and have a great day then I have made my goal for that day.

I feel as if I am a great comforter, I have good communication skills, I have had a year of experience as a caregiver and all the resident's I have taken care of along the way have made me more experienced and confident about what I do for them, When I was about 13, I had an elderly neighbor/friend that would come over every day for coffee and to talk with the family, well, he started getting older and weaker and I just always wished I could help him but never knew how until I get a wonderful opportunity in High school for CNA class and I loved it so much that I have never thought about having a different job since. What makes it really worth it is knowing that these people I am taking care of, have families whom I am making very happy along with the residents, I love their personalities and different routines, and becoming friends at the end of the day, and last but not least,I am proud of how many "Thank You's" I hear throughout the day because I honestly do my best to make everyone happy, I am happy that I have become skilled in so many ways of being a CNA.
