I became a caregiver to help my brother and his family. I have been blessed with help from people throughout my life and love when I have the opportunity to help others. I worked in a physical therapy clinic for 8 years and am an ACSM certified personal trainer starting an in-home personal training business. I began my study in the science of nursing, applied myself academically, received scholarships and graduated with honors because I wanted a good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement. During my tours of duty I had the pleasure of working with a diverse population of people who taught me everything I know today. I learned from our seniors who struggle with dementia, our children who struggle with genetic disease syndrome, and our family, friends and neighbors who struggle with mental illness. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work in the areas of geriatric, pediatric, and behavioral health nursing. The people in my care revealed to me without saying a word that the good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement that I was looking for was with me the whole time. I was the good job that needed to be done, and I have people like your loved ones to thank for that. Early in my career as a registered nurse I decided to focus on home care because it was depressing to be surrounded by sick people who had to wait for pain medication, and help with meals, bathing, grooming, and toileting, and I couldn't help all of them. Home care affords me the time to focus on my actual employer's business at hand. That is your loved one's needs and concerns. I am 52 years old. I have been in doing house keeping/ caregiving for 30 years. I was with my last family for 18 years. I start doing this because I was a single mother and need to have a flexible schedule. I have never been fired or even close. I enjoy helping those in need because we have all sometime or will sometime need help. I feel that is where God had put me. In 2018 my husband retired and we moved to PA. I thought I would love the retirement life and I did enjoy the first year, traveling, Well now I am bored. I am still fairly young I am completely flexible and I have a reliable vehicle. My name is Hanna Besterman. I have so much respect and love towards older generation. When I was young my Polish grandma was my mentor, idol and love of my life. It was my honor that last 5 years of her life I could take care of her and make her comfortable in my apartment in Poland. I always felt connected to older generation. For more then 20 years I have worked with individuals who suffered from aphasia, memory lost, mental health problems, blindness, vision impairments, , intellectual and physical disabilities. I am very proud of helping my patients to be able to improve their quality of life and be part of the community. Top of that I have a lots of energy and much love in me,to give to elderly person.
