Being a caregiver is rewarding it gives me satisfaction and a good feeling to be able to assist elders with things they can no longer do for themselves. I treat them as I would treat my own family members. Treat them with respect and let them know I am there to help them, not take away from their dignity. Just let them know they have someone who cares about them.

I'm a great caregiver,because I am patient caring and understanding of the needs of others. The reason I became a caregiver is because I always helped take care of my grand mother she had Alzheimer's before she died,so I know how the elderly need someone loving and caring to help them . I love knowing, at the end of the day I helped put a smile on someone's face by taking care of them and making them feel safe and secure.

I am a natural nurturing person. I I decided at a very young age that I wanted to be a nurse or a doctor. I had a grandmother that suffered from Alzheimer's disease for 13 years. Majority of the time that she was sick I cared for her. I always knew I needed to get into the health field because I saw how important it is to have a support system. When you have someone in your family who can no longer take care of themselves it seems to have a ripple effect with everyone surrounding them. At some point we could no longer take care of my grandmother in the house so we had to hire a home health aide and in doing so I really grew to appreciate the nature of the job. You become an extended family member you grow great bonds with your clients or patients and their familes. I love being an aide.

I have been a caregiver for 8 years. Before that I was a Dietary Director for an upscale assisted linlving and a Cafe Manager. I have always enjoyed working with seniors and others that need in-home care. I have been trained in CPR and First=aid. I have been fully vaccinated. Have a clean/clear background check and driving record. I enjoy camping, gardening and art. I go to school part time but it's very flexible. I have 1 son and have been married for 18 years. I became a caregiver when I went back to college to get my BA in 2015. I had no idea how rewarding it would be or how well it would suit me! As a mother of a 1st grader and the daughter of elderly parents, I have more experience than my employment in the field would suggest. I am a naturally caring, trustworthy, and empathetic person. Being a caregiver means helping someone live their life to the fullest extent possible in a happy healthy environment. In my last year of college, I concentrated on social gerontology and my senior thesis was on age-segregation of the elderly. I am especially proud the genealogy researched for my last client. She was so pleased to have that record of her family's history and it was a project we could enjoy together.

I made the decision to help others after helping my grandparents and great grandmother all through out my life. Seeing all of them being surrounded with a supportive family during their final years was truly a blessing, but sadly, not everyone is as lucky to have the constant care they did. I understand that a busy life can get in the way of helping out our loved ones, and I'd love to help them and provide company whenever I can. I love being able to help others and have often been complimented on my patience and understanding with those who need it. In her finally years, I helped my great grandmother with many activities, mostly with household chores and personal company (she was in her 90s whenever I was helping her.) I have been exposed to and helped people with memory issues, cancer, diabetes, etc. I am use to preparing food and reminding others to eat and to take their medication . I have much personal experience in this area and have no problem treating others with respect as I would want to be treated the same way. :)
