I have been doing this kind of job for over 8 years I love taking care of people and talk with them and also I get attached with my clients I make them laugh and I want them to feel comfortable . And what I enjoyed about a caregiver it feels like I'm carrying like there my own grandparents .

My name is Kathleen and I have been caring for infants and adults for over 10 years. After graduating High School, my grandmother became ill and needed a full time caregiver. I wasn't sure how I would do but it didn't take long to realize I enjoyed taking care of others. Soon after my children were born I began working at a daycare, so that I would be able to take my children with me to work. I enjoyed taking care of infants and toddlers, but as my children got older and started school full time I decided to apply at an assisted living facility. After working there about 6 months I decided this would be my career path. I took an accredited course to become a certified nurses aide and began working at a skilled nursing facility. I have heard so many memories and stories from my sweet residents, and the joy on their faces make me feel like I am making a difference.

I first became a caregiver when my mother was sick with Lymphoma. I love to cook and clean and have a heart for helping people in need, so caregiving became the perfect job for me. I am patient and understanding and take great pride in encouraging and helping people reach their potential for a more comfortable day to day living. I also have experience working with clients with cognitive disabilities and other mental health illness.

Nursing as an RN for 17 years. Had several back surgeries and retired in 2012 and now wish to return to work as a senior care provider. My nursing specialty was in geriatrics the elderly. Enjoy being around seniors listening to their stories and helping them with their personal care and their home cleaning needs. Willing to work weekdays weekends and holidays. I've always been told that I smile too much. I'm really proud that I smile too much because it brightens up my patients day. Sometimes they need to see a smile to know everything is going to be ok. I love being a caregiver because I get to help someone. it brings me joy to know that I'm helping someone who appreciates it. Working in both hospitals and nursing centers has shown me two different worlds to healthcare. I have really learned a lot from both. I've learned to noticed signs a lot sooner when something is going on with a patient/resident. I've learned to read people a lot faster on who they are or how they like things done. It really does make a difference when you know what to look for. That's why I wanted to be a caregiver and eventually make my way to becoming a Registered Nurse.
