I have the calm and quiet type of demeanor and have been told on several occasions that my voice is very calming. Basically, I get along with everyone. What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is that it's my calling and what I'm passionate about. It comes very naturally for me after being in this profession for over 30 years. What I enjoy about caregiving is how it makes the person I'm caring for feel. My heart is full when they feel like I've done a job well and that's my intention. I love when my clients request me! I have been caregiving for the last almost 13 years. I started my caregiving journey young helping take care of family. Once I started my own family I took care of my mother-in-law for a while. After that I began working in facilities and Adult family homes. I currently have all of my CBRF certifications required by the state of Wisconsin. I previously worked as a CNA for 7 years in Nursing homes, assisted living facilities, Rehab facilities and Disabled homes. I have been a nurse for 5 years at Aurora Healthcare working as a float nurse in OB/GYN, behavioral health, pediatrics, family practice and internal medicine. I recently started a new position with St Elizabeth hospital in the heart and lung unit. I previously took care of a paraplegic man in his home for 3 years with a hoyer lift. I would go to his home every morning before work and give him a shower/ get him ready for the day and give him any meds or apply any topicals he may have needed. I loved doing this, I am capable and I am more than willing to help where help is needed. I currently work Monday-Thursday 830:430. I would be willing to help any times outside of those hours. I started caregiving when i was 16 because I wanted to one day become a nurse which is what i will be going to school for. I am very compassionate and caring which is what drew me to this field. I always loved the idea of being able to make a difference in someone else's life. Being able to care for them and overall be there for them is what i love to do. I always try to build a connection with them because i believe thats most important for there to be trust and an understanding. A personal achievement that i am proud of would be going for further education.
