What attracted me to becoming a caregiver is that it's my calling and what I'm passionate about. It comes very naturally for me after being in this profession for over 30 years. I previously worked as a CNA for 7 years in Nursing homes, assisted living facilities, Rehab facilities and Disabled homes. I have been a nurse for 5 years at Aurora Healthcare working as a float nurse in OB/GYN, behavioral health, pediatrics, family practice and internal medicine. I recently started a new position with St Elizabeth hospital in the heart and lung unit. I previously took care of a paraplegic man in his home for 3 years with a hoyer lift. I would go to his home every morning before work and give him a shower/ get him ready for the day and give him any meds or apply any topicals he may have needed. I loved doing this, I am capable and I am more than willing to help where help is needed. I currently work Monday-Thursday 830:430. I would be willing to help any times outside of those hours. Hello! I started caregiving a year and a half ago after leaving school. Initially it was meant to be an in between job while I figured out what I wanted to do, but very quickly became my passion. I never felt like I was really talented with much before, but caregiving and medication passing feels like a calling to me, something I didn't expect to be good at but just pulled me in. Hello my name is Annamaria, I am outgoing, dependable and have a bubbly personality. I'd like to say I am very understanding and feel like I adjust well to any situation as changes come along. I was first introduced to caregiving when I did clinicals at a nursing home for a CNA class. After I turned 18 I applied at a Assisted living as a caregiver and worked my way up to getting my med certification as well which was a big achievement for me. I am most happy to say that I am proud and enjoy taking care of the elderly.

I started caregiving when i was 16 because I wanted to one day become a nurse which is what i will be going to school for. I am very compassionate and caring which is what drew me to this field. I always loved the idea of being able to make a difference in someone else's life. Being able to care for them and overall be there for them is what i love to do. I always try to build a connection with them because i believe thats most important for there to be trust and an understanding. A personal achievement that i am proud of would be going for further education.
