My name is Gayle Lusk but I go by "Lisa", I have lived in Auberry for many years and very proud of my community. I am a compassionate and caring person. My main priority is to my clients. I have been taking care of the elderly, special needs, adults & children for over 30 years. I have a big heart and I always make my clients very happy. The best part of caring for someone is seeing them laugh and enjoying my time with them. I have worked for Foothill Elementary School since 2019 and I enjoy working with the children and watching them grow. I prefer not to work weekends but in a pinch, I would. My life has always and will be about taking care of people. I have been this way since I was very little. Devoting most of my time to the care of someone else is one of the most selfless things someone can do, but it's not only about the time involved. Being able to understand the person you're caring for, knowing their problems, challenges and desires will not only make it easier to care for them, but will undoubtedly improve the relationship you have with each other. Empathy is a big aspect of that, and being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes and be empathetic will only increase the quality of care you're providing.As instrumental as caregivers are, communication is key. It can be something as simple as going through the day's schedule, or complicated as discussing health concerns, but no matter what it is, it must be done well. Subpar communication will do nothing beneficial for the relationship, and in fact, could damage it. Furthermore, as it's likely there's more than one caregiver in the individual's life, and because of all the moving parts, communication is key to get information to all the relevant parties. Whether it's relaying health information or just remaining congenial, communication between caregivers is important, second only to communicating with the individual.

I am a caring compassionate person who loves to see and create happiness. I understand the frustration and limitation sometimes life brings upon us and am always willing to help to make things easier and a bit more tolerable when possible. I have a big heart. I helped my father fight cancer with a 3 year old. We did it. Helped someone with MS. Was a challenge but I'm easy to talk to and like to conversate. I'm easy going yet professional. Know CPR and first aid certified. Was going to school to become a teacher but changed my mind. I like being a clinical nurse and a positive provider.

My traits and caregiver experience come from me having to learn to care for my husband after his stroke. I had to learn to do certain exercises. Had to help him through his therapies. Also, had to learn certain diets due to his diabetes. I have gained experience in caring for him. Meaning, baths, feeding, grooming, having to apply caterers, rectal medicine, Etc. Also, had the privilege to help my mother through her cancer experience. I enjoy and take pride in caring for others.

What makes me a great care giver is having a lot of patience. I am compassionate and truly care about the people I help. I found caretaking came naturally, it found me in a way and I've enjoyed it since. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is bringing joy to those who have a difficult time or who are not able at all to go and find joy on their own. I am proud of my latest equestrian challenge of training my own Arab for an endurance race and finishing with the first group.
