The reason I became a caregiver was because my grandmother died alone in a nursing home. I have also worked in facilities. I left due to the fact I didn't like the way the clients were treated I couldn't give them enough attention. The reason why I love working in homes with one or two clients at a time is because you get to know them you get to bond with them and they become like family. 80% of my clients I have stayed with till the end and that is because most of my clients are terminal.

Skills & Certifications: ALS, Alzheimer's Disease, Home Health Aide (HHA), Arthritis, Blood Disorders, Cancer Recovery, Cardiovascular Disorders, COPD, Dementia, Depression, Diabetes, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Hearing Disorders, HIV/AIDS, Home Health Care, Hospice Care, Multiple Sclerosis, Neurological Disorders, Orthopedic Care, Palliative Care, Parkinson's Disease, Post Surgery Recovery, Respiratory Disorders, Renal and Urological Disorders, Skin Disorders, Stroke, Tracheotomy / Ventilation, Vision and Eye Disorders

Hi I'm April, I started out as a caregiver when my grandfather was in hospice care. Knowing he was dying I just wanted to make him comfortable and just simply care for him. I would say that's when I realize that I would devote my like to serving people in need and I believe that elderly ppl need it the most. I've always enjoy conversations with my clients weather it's talking about their past or giving some life lessons , learning from the elderly is beautiful knowledge. It is what made me the caregiver I am today! Being a mother of five children, has given me patients and understanding along with my experience of being a Certified Nurse Assistant and a caregiver for over 20 years. I will definitely be a wonderful fit for your loved one. So When can I start lol

I have been a caregiver for over 10 years. My mother & sisters are also in the field. We are natural caretakers. It's in our nature. My Grandma has always had diabetes so we've learned to check glucose levels & administer her insulin at a young age. This isn't just a job for me, it's a lifestyle. I provide compassion with my help to every client's tailored needs & preference. I am available to provide honest home care & give my clients independence & peace of mind. I enjoy hearing the stories & knowledge of the older generation. I learn so much & receive good survival skills! A personal achievement I'm proud of is being able to provide around the clock care for a patient, whom had no family. I was able to bring her happiness & warmth through the love of my own family. She wanted to meet my kids & formed bonds with them. (She insisted they call her Grandma Pat) she would tell stories of growing up in a world of no to little technology, it intrigued them! Giving back & providing happiness through relationships has made my clients part of my family. I love what i do!

I am naturally caring and compassionate person; So doing just so will give me sense of accomplishment that I am doing something good. A personal achievement for me was when one of the toughest person I am taking care of stated that I just made him feel important and apologizes for being mean and asked me to take care of him from that day on. And when I simply cover them with blanket while sleeping and says to you " Your such a sweet person and Thank you for taking care of me every night ". And that feeling of rewardness when simply you put a smile and genuine laugh when they see you. That is an accomplishments for me, at the end of the day, I go to sleep smilling, thinking I just made someone's day. I am hardworking, caring, compassionate, patient, understanding, dependable, reliable and flexible. I have been working in a Assisted Living and Memory Care Community for 5+ yrs as a Personal Care Assistant and Medication Technician.
