I've been a home caregiver to my husband for 58 years of which 37 years he's been disabled. I've raised 3 children and 2 grandchildren. My children and grandchildren are my life! I love my ladies group at church and I'm a cancer survivor since 2001.

Hello! My name is Dani and I am a PhD student at Miami University. I have both a bachelors and masters degree in psychology and currently study behavioral neuroscience. During my undergraduate career I worked in senior care (5 years), and while my current position is rewarding- I truly miss being a caregiver. Being a caregiver allows you to know individuals on a deep and intimate level while helping them and their families transition during a very challenging time. I have a wide range of experience and enjoy learning new things- further, I would consider myself to be very patient, kind and reliable (essential traits for this kind of work!). I try to connect with a person through their hobbies. I also feel like having a down to earth trying to understand a person personality helps as well. I live in the country, I put out a garden, I help can, I have put on garage sales, I enjoy flee markets. I enjoy history. Being all around knowledgeable for a few things, and willing to learn about others helps out greatly. I enjoy keeping the person stories alive, and seeing them smile, and appreciate the little things. My personal achievement is when the client calls me there angel or sweetheart, and they explain in there words how I help them, manage through there chores, or ADL's I have worked with many companies, and only a few I can mention. I have been a caregiver the past 6 years and I have grown to love caring for the elderly and thinking of them as my own family. I started out at 14 taking care of my grandfather and extended my health care experience from there. I LOVE My job and the satisfaction I get from Helping others achieve their goals...One Client I took care of had a stroke well when i took over giving this lady her care me and her decided to continue with her physical therapy ( Just rountine excerices and range & Motion on her left arm & leg ( which was partially paralyzed)..well after 2 months of continuous exercises SHE could use her left hand and actually grip the bar in the Shower! We were so proud to show her husband and Family what Her & I accomplished with a little love and compassion.... she became like My 2nd Momma and she told me i was her Angel girl so with that I love my job . for me I am Family oriented I have 4 living children 9 grandchildren (10th due in August) and 1 great grandson im dependable accurate and very compassionate and just simply love Life!

I became a caregiver because, I enjoy helping the elderly preform tasks that they are no longer able to preform on their own. I am personally proud of being able to do for and help my clients do the things that they need to have done. I am a very dependable person and really enjoy every aspect of this job.
