What I believe makes me a great caregiver is because I always go above & beyond for my elders & treat them like my own family. I'm a naturally caring person & that's what I do best. What attracted me to being a caregiver is I have volunteered in the ER with my grandmother, who is a RN & I loved the rush & learning, which led me to going for my CNA license which I accomplished in high school while taking college classes. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the stories, the memories that I'll keep forever & helping people who need it. My personal achievement that I'm proud of is that I am a go getter. I have been a caregiver for 5+ years and I have worked in multiple health care fields with all different types of health issues. I have yet to run into something that I could not handle. Being a nurses assistant is what I do, I have thought about furthering my education multiple times but I keep coming down to the decision that I would not get that one on one time like I do now with my patients/residents. I am very proud of where this career as taken me and how my job makes me feel knowing I put a smile on someone's face and I was the person who was there for them when they didn't have someone to talk to. I am a very outgoing individual and I love to have fun with my co-workers and residents/patients. Everyday I go to work my number 1 goal is to make sure every single person I come in contact with get the best service I could provide with my experience and if I can not answer a question for them then I direct them where to go and also get educated on the answer myself for next time.

I originally became a cna to keep my auntie home when she was in stage 3 terminal pancreatic cancer she passed away in 2009 and I've been cna certified ever since . I love being a cna because you touch people's lives on a daily basis it's a very rewarding job my life goal is to eventually become a occupational therapist and work with children in the future. Hello. I have been in healthcare for 10 years . Have been working in hospice for the last three years. I have worked with patients with all types of needs.

I have given a lifetime of assistance (professionally since 2005) to my intellectually challenged (mentally retardation from PKU) sister of 55 years. Her physical handicaps are that she needs a leg brace and a knee brace to walk and sometimes uses a cane or a walker depending on how she is feeling. Her emotional and intellectual handicaps are that of a 6 year old child. I also gave care to my deceased parents. My mother had alzheimer's, COPD, and diabetes. My father was 25 years in a wheelchair from an accident that left him paralyzed from the knees down. He also had COPD, diabetes and drop-foot. Along with my family, I have assisted many other elder persons in our community to include dispensing of medicines, massaging, cooking and cleaning, bathing, feeding, wound care, transportation to and from doctor appointments, and other services. I am a senior at Indiana University in Liberal Arts General Studies Arts & Humanities, with a minor in Fine Arts. I am a well rounded individual who enjoys traveling, new people, new challenges and all aspects of life. I proudly served in the US Army as an administrative specialist and a training NCO in the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks (25th Combat Aviation Battalion, Wheeler AFB) from 1979-1985 in Honolulu, HI. I am positive and believe in the good in myself and in others. People trust me. I'm happy in whatever I am doing.
