I have been doing home health care for over 20 yrs now. I love my job and what I do. If I can make someone's life easier then I know I have done my job. I Love people And not just anyone can do this kind of work. You have to have a passion for people, and that's what I have. Every client I have had love my work. I'm good at what I do because I love what I do.

I have been a caregiver for many years. I have helped those recover from surgery (hip, back, brain) and those with MS, cancer recovery, Parkinson's, paralyzed and many other conditions. I am an excellent cook and live a healthy lifestyle. Nutrition is an essential part of healing the mind, body and soul. I enjoy cards, board games, travel, singing, dancing, the theater, musicals, farms, cooking, walks and conversations.

I was born in Lansing MI, and at two I moved to Grand Rapids, I went to Eastern Elementary School and then to Creston High School. I took up Machine Shop and Architectural Drawing. I was the oldest of 12 children. After high school I took a Tool & Die Apprenticeship. I also worked as a volunteer for the fire department. I built a house in Sparta Township where I live with my wife. I retired from Tool Die 2010 because of cancer. Then I started volunteering at Rest Haven Homes which ended up in a paid position. I enjoy making some one happy and to do the things they enjoy and also to be a companion and a friend. I do transportation to doctor appointments, dentist appointments, shopping, movies, out to eat, visit a friend, errands, or travel, I also do in home care with dressing assistance, mobility, exercise, meal planning, and preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, etc. I have completed classes on Hospice Care, Dementia, and worked at Rest Haven Homes for 12 years, and 3 1/2 years with Leaves Personal Care.

I love to cook, clean, I love to be organized. The thing that made me become a caregiver I use the care for my grandma before she passed away and also cared for my aunt that has scoliosis. I love spending time with elders. One thing that I have done previously is listen to the stories told and type them for the family to have. Memories like these are precious and deserve to be preserved. I enjoy being there for assistance with meal preparations, hobbies, and keeping company. I'm in the early stages of learning sign language and can speak minimal Spanish. I have experience with people suffering from Alzheimer's, Diabetes, hearing disabilities, strokes, and other age related deceases and disorders.
