For the past 9 years I was a Personal Caregiver for a 98 year old elderly woman with errands, paperwork, Dr. appointments,and grocery shopping. I also helped an elderly man in his 80's with Parkinson's for 1 1/2 years. During that time I was responsible for medication management, wound care, bathing, personal grooming, dressing, meal prep, feeding if needed, house cleaning, and laundry. Especially when it comes to a client that really doesn't like to talk much or may not have much energy or excitement during their day. I learned sometimes a smile and a good joke is the best medication. I believe that's what makes me a great care giver besides the fact that I am well experienced in bed transfers to toilet/sitting device and or wheelchair as well as usage of the Hoyerlift for bedbound clients. She said it was my calling from God. I don't want to exaggerate my story but I have been blessed with seeing happy faces, when i arrived in the morning, to a few clients home. With most of my cases. I am definitely grateful for keeping alot of my clients healthy, happy and safe.
