Good Listener Have been in healthcare all my life (now 73).As an LPN, (Licensed Practical Nurse) I was a hospital discharge planner, a nurse liaison for a nursing home, a private duty nurse, a hospice intake coordinator, among other jobs. I no longer hold a nursing license. I do hold a CPR card that is current. Understand the need for following instructions. Enjoy working with people in homecare taking care whatever is needed. I have seen people who are untrained and without common sense and this is a waste of everyone's time. I like the idea of taking care of things the resident doesn't have to try to do, so he or she can spend their energies doing things they enjoy. That is what I am proud of.

I like helping people and working with people who can't fend for their self. I've been a caregiver since I was a little girl taking care of orphaned baby animals. I am now a certified CNA. I have worked with elderly, disabled, along with mentally challenge people. I have worked in a med fragile home nursing homes and private home care. I have been certified in CPR, first aid and had a lot of training on working with elderly and disabled people. I've had 15 years of experience I've taken them shopping, doctor appointment, run errands, I give baths, help dress, cook, tubal feeding I've taken care of my dad ,he had alheizmer along with clients who had it. I enjoy/love being a caregiver! What has brought me to be a caregiver is my past. I have 2 beautiful boy's that are now in heaven. I never thought I could love again, but I can more then I knew. I became a caregiver after the birth of my 4th child when I realized how much I really enjoyed taking care of people. It is such a great feeling to know I am helping someone who can not do it for themselves any longer and that may be me or a loved one someday. I started off as a certified nursing assistant but soon realized I wanted more knowledge and returned to college to get my license as an emergency medical technician. I soon found out that whether I am working in a facility, someones home or an ambulance these skills are of great importance. I am a christian mother of 4 children two of which are grown and two grandchildren. I have been happily married now for many years to a wonderful man.

For several years I have cared for my grandmother who needed much care before we lost her. I also assisted my former mother-in-law who suffered from dementia. I have cared for my father-in-law who was 92 years of age and a World War II veteran. I was caring for him up until he passed away in 2016. I've cared for my husband who fought stage 4 cancer and had to be tube fed. I'm currently a full time caregiver/supervisor for an elderly couple. My job consist of administering medications,transportation, bathing,meal preperation and assisting in and out of bed, filing paper work,scheduling,setting appointments. I am fully responsible for all of there needs. The gentleman is 86 and wife is 87 years of age. The gentleman suffered from a stroke and had asperated phneumonia who has to be tube fed. The wife has diabetes and dementia. They will be leaving me soon to relocate and live with there daughter in Kansas City. I have cared for them for almost a year and have grown so attached to them. I will miss them dearly. But I am looking to continue to on caring for the elderly. I have always had compassion and much concern for the elderly. I have always had a nurturing nature. It is more than just a job to me. I always had the need to be there for them and help them in every possible way that I can. I feel that my calling is to be a helping hand and show them love compassion and great concern for there well being. I am working on receiving my CNA certification. But have all the experience needed for the job.
