I have been involved in healthcare since the age of 15 , starting as a "candy striper" volunteer and worked in many areas of the hospital until of age to work in Emergency Medicine. I have been an active EMT/ Paramedic with both volunteer and career departments and taken part in evaluating home safety checks for residents. As a healthcare professional, I have worked in various hospitals and am very knowledgeable in diseases, aging process and treatments. I have a soft heart for our Veterans with several Veteran family members. I love people and enjoy conversing with elders that have so much to share.

I consider myself a great caregiver because I go above and beyond to make sure my residence get the best care. I have a kind heart and plenty of patience and I have the desire to help those that are in need. I love to make my residence happy, comfortable and I love to see them smile. One of my personal achievements was being there by my grandmothers side while she was diagnosed with dementia and making every moment a special one.

I became a caregiver 22 years ago when (at that time) my mothers employer was looking for a 'fill-in' person. I gave it a try and absolutely fell in love with what I did! I love being a caregiver because I find great joy in helping others!! I have worked with a lot of Seniors and I have helped them to be able to stay in their homes! I have been working as a Licensed CNA over 20+ yrs , when taking care of my residence i look at them as my family member, meaning i would give them good quality care show them love and respect with dignity, what attracted me to being a caregiver i have watched my family member with dementia and my aunt needed a break because it can become overwhelming at times. I started doing home care in June 2009 as a Nurse Assistant/ PCA , I mainly did private duty cases overnight 11pm-7am and I really enjoy it. It was hard at times but i enjoy taking care of my clients , making sure they were fed, bathed, and had a good night rest. Most of my home care clients had dementia or was recovering from surgery or some sort. I started doing homecare when i was temporary taking care of my grandmother while my parents were at work , after i graduated from high school . i would have to say that was a personal achievement of mine , to get my Nurse Assistant/PCA certification after helping caring for my grandmother.

I have compassion, love, patience for what I do as a Certified Nurse Assistant and as a Hospice Aide. I took care of my mom and sis which made me want to be a nurse assistant for life!!

As a highly competent caregiver companion, I bring a service- focused and hardworking attitude to this role. I maintain an efficient and organized work mentality as I assist in the care of several geriatric and chronically ill patients. I have an instinct for problem solving and work well independently and with little oversight. I am compassionate, outgoing, resourceful, and believe that trust and honesty are key when in a caregivers role. I was attracted to care giving due to my need of wanting to help people. What I enjoy the most is building a bond and being apart of the recovery process. My biggest achievement in care giving was being able to help my mom over a period of two years recover from her Ru in y Gastric bypass surgery. Prior to her surgery she had diabetes and kidney disease for 3 years and didn't think she would make it to the age of 40. After her surgery I was apart of the recovery process and seeing her healthy and free of diabetes and kidney disease has been the best experience and biggest accomplishment in my life. Therefore I want to continue and help others because its what I truly love to do.

When I walk in a room, home or facility I see my grandfather, grandmother and immediately begin to treat patients a such.

I have 9-10 years of caregiver experience. 4 of those years are in home car, and 5/6 of those years are in a nursing home setting.
