I started working with people at a young age. I worked at a daycare for about two years and then moved to elderly care. I'm very kind hearted and a patient person. I love knowing that I'm helping someone's day become a little easier. I aspire to become a nurse one day and that is what I'm working towards. Well I would think there are some who want to do it out of the goodness of their hearts. Being a caregiver can be a rewarding experience. If you have a good heart, and you want to give back to your community then this is a great way to do it. There are millions of sickly individuals who cannot care for themselves. Can you imagine the tragedy of knowing that you could have helped someone, but did not? Caregivers are there to help those who can't help themselves. Without caregivers those who are sickly or disabled would most likely die because they are not being cared for. As a result you would have upset family members, and we in society would have to live with the guilt of knowing that we could have done our part but we did not. If there were no caregivers then who would do it? Someone has to, and its a selfless occupation to have. Also many choose this path because they want to be a servant to the people. Being a public servant is admirable, and it should be encouraged. It helps promote more awareness, and it breeds compassion for those you don't know.My personal achievement is knowing I can help someone who needs a little or a large among of help, and knowing that he or she is safe hands. I am a mom a four and have be married for 30 years. I enjoy taking walks,hiking, helping others and spending time with my family

I have always enjoyed being around my elders. I would spend time with my grandparents on both my mother and father side as often as I could. I began volunteering at a nursing home near my house and would go play games and paint the ladies nails and just spend time with the clients. I like hearing the stories about their pasts and being able to really see how much things have changed. I enjoy how much they value and appreciate the little things in life and simplicity. I am proud that I have such strong relationships with many assisted living homes and elderly clients. I enjoy cooking, cleaning and getting to know people. I am very good at knowing when to engage in conversation with a client or allow them their space and time. I am also wonderful at finding what a client loves most whether it is reading, puzzles, cooking, scrapbooking, ect and focusing my time and effort on helping them engage in that activity. I love offering my help and support to those in need and enjoy the relationships I have built and continue to build with my elders within this community.

I more than can say enjoy spending time with someone wether it's sitting and chatting, playing games or even going out for walks. Hi! To tell you a bit about my experience I have been a professional health care worker for over 16 years. My experience in healthcare motivated me to pursue my Associates in Nurse Education at NSCC from 2013-2015. In my care history, I have worked with a wide range of individuals with different needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, muscular dystrophy, aphasia, anxiety, depression, stroke. I can assist with medication, appointments, immobility, transfers, incontinence, bathing, dressing, bed sores, meal prep, companionship, and organization. I enjoy assisting clients in activities such as physical therapy, memory training exercises, mental awareness exercises, community activities and happy to drive to medical appointments as needed. I believe it is important to encourage my clients to do things that make them feel connected to what's going on around them, such as with hobbies they used to love, even if in a different form now.
