I was a professional caregiver on and off since 1975. I am compassionate and well trained in caregiving. I enjoy spending time with those I care for and meeting their needs. I enjoy doing something I love and also being able to get paid for it. I have held awards for caregiver of the year from a job and promoted to head supervisor in a nursing home I worked in for many years.

I am going on my third year of college, and my third college as well. I am finishing up my surgical nursing degree at Marion Technical College with a Surgical Technician certification and a phlebotomy certification as well. I have spent time in caring for my grandmother while she was in and out of the hospital, and I will provide compassionate care to those who need. My job as a future nurse is to provide comfort and love to patients varying different health conditions. My ideal job profession in the future is to work in hospice as well. When I was younger, I had a heart disease and my life-long goal is to give back to nurses and patients with 110% passionate and sympathetic care.

I became a caregiver because my mother was a nurse. She did home health care for years and she always talked about how much she loved it. When I started into this field it was in hospice care and I loved it. I loved being there with families and helping them through the very difficult times. I always spent more time than required so I could ensure that things were the best they could be considering the situation. I tend to be a fairly quite person at first but become chattery once I feel comfortable. I have always been that way but I have become better with age. I love helping people. And spending time just talking if that's all they would like.

Being a caregiver has been very rewarding in knowing I am able to make others feel good in their daily lives with assistance of daily living. They feel secure which makes me feel good and proud to assist. I have alot of compassion and heart for anyone.

I am great at everything i do. Very out going and i have a deep care for other's. Nursing is not about the rate of pay, I believe it is about compassion for other's . I love what I do. And to be apart of someones life and provide exceptional care. I am a mother of 3 , hard working and very friendly. At every care position i have held i have received multiple rewards and recognition from the care I give. I do not feel inadequate in any aspect of my life, training or my abilities as a caregiver/ nurse.

For me, being a caregiver isn't just a career. It's my calling in life. I feel as though it's what I was put here to do. My very first job at age 18 was as a caregiver for a lady with MS. I cared for her as a live in for nearly three years with one day off weekly. I then moved to direct care for disabled individuals and have accumulated several years experience. I am certified in first aid/ CPR, medication administration, insulin trained, and have a wide path of experience to fall back on. I was also caregiver for my mother for five years until she passed from ALZ. I am currently attending college studying Human and Social Services to better provide for those I work with and for. I believe that being a caregiver requires a special individual, just as special as those I care for. I have always felt that the individuals I have met and worked with have each been a blessing in their own way and I am the lucky one for having them in my heart and life. I view my clients as family, nothing less. I am dedicated, sincere, patient, full of good humor, not easily upset, and my greatest joy is making others happy. That's the biggest benefit of all. I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. I love helping others. I have been an home health aide, a medical assistant and a massage therapist. I have also worked in Retail, Sales and have been in management. I am a mother and a grandmother. I love my family more than anything. I love people and like to get know their stories.

I've been working as a nursing assistant since 1982. Now with my family grown and on their own I've decided to go back to school for an RN degree. I haven't started school yet but am looking for a flexible schedule so I can go back. I've worked over the years in many local nursing homes and have enjoyed the residents and their families. I've been fortunate to work with many great aides and nurses who have had knowledge to give and shown how to multi task as necessary. I've worked on 2nd and 3rd shifts primarily and would like to work on 3rd shift. This is how I percieve my position: People come in all shapes, colors and sizes, they all are in need of loving care, a warm smile and someone to talk to, they need comfort, a clean invironment, family and a warm meal. These I would want for myself or my own family and they are necessary for peace of mind. I've seen all kinds of problems great and small but what I've noticed about most folks is that they just want to know someone cares about them. That's were nursing assistants come in to fill the gaps between doctors, nurses and family.
