I have been an emergency technician for the past 26 years. I took care of a vast array of patients including many who were in critical condition. I recently left the ER to be the caretaker for a husband and wife. I am responsible for bathing, cooking, grocery shopping, medication distribution, and household cleaning. Its a joy being able to help keep them out of a nursing home. The wife has end stage COPD and the husband has Parkinsons. I am especially proud that because of my efforts they are still living at home. The relationship I have built with them has been well worth it too. The husband has even given me the nickname Christmas because he looks forward to seeing me every morning.

I have been a Medical Assistant and a phlebotomist since 2006. I take care of my Grandmother from time to time and I have wide range of experiences with people with different health and mental issues. I love what I do because I love to help people just as much as I would want someone to help myself or my family.

I love being a caregiver/CNA. I've been a CNA for over 25 years. It gives me alot of pleasure taking care of the elderly. I'm a very caring & compassionate person. The reason why I started becoming a caregiver was because my brother just got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I used to take care of him before he went into the nursing home. I'm very hard working & enjoy listening to my clients history, for example where they are from & what they used to do for a living. I would treat your loved one like I would my own with up most respect. I really enjoy getting to know my clients & I feel like they are part of my family. If I can make them smile & laugh then I know I'm doing my job because some of my clients don't have much family or friends & they get very lonely & depressed. My personal achievement is taking care of sick & elderly patients.

Throughout my profession, I learned the most significant lesson that can never be taught in a training; everyday life experiences. My name is Mike, and I grew up with my grandfather and aunt and witnessed personally their daily problems. I saw how tough life can be through simple things we often take for granted such as walking, doing laundry and preparing food. It gave me a reason and a purpose to help other families as well. As time passes, it's natural to be concerned for the well-being of our own and our family. I know for me, my grandfather's safety was important to me all the way to his last day from cancer. I know the importance of trusting the right person during their most difficult times in their life. I also have 10+ years of hands on work experience as a Direct Support Professional Caregiver and a College Student Caregiver / Note Taker. This provided me with greater experience working with people with various diagnoses and limitations. Hello my name is kelsey I have been doing health care for 8 years I love what I do and take passion into my work. I have continued to do this work because I have a great personality I love to help others to achieve there goals as in walking to the bathroom 15ft I love to see them have a smile on there face . I do care about the people I take care I believe they deserve the same respect I would like and to treat them as If o wanted my grandparents caregiver would want them treated with dignity and respect.

Took care of family members when they were sick. This inspired me to become a nurse aide. Work for numerous people who were sick and needed my help which made me feel special. Treat others the way you treat yourself.

Raised by my grandmother, I developed the passion of caring for the elderly at a very young age. I worked closely with my grandmother and grandaunts with their daily activities. While in high school, I applied for summer jobs as a caregiver with companies such as home instead senior center and act agency. I enjoyed being around the elderly and providing assistance with daily living. I enjoy the knowledge I gained from interacting. With them on all levels and the stories I was told about life in general. I have been blessed to be in this field for over 10 years and have applied so much of what was passed on by my clients to various areas of life. I am currently a bachelors and masters degree holder in health education and I still find myself attracted to the field of home health and working with the elderly. From 2012 to 2015 , I was blessed to work in a live-in case with a lovely lady who recently passed away in March of 2015. Working with my client for three years, I lived with her and viewed her as more than just a client. She took the role of my late grandmother and I cared for her deeply. I am very passionate about caring for the seniors and I do it with so much pride. I hope to one day open my own home Health agency.

I began my study in the science of nursing, applied myself academically, received scholarships and graduated with honors because I wanted a good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement. This is the statement many people use in the cover letter of a resume without understanding what it really means. During my tours of duty I had the pleasure of working with a diverse population of people who taught me everything I know today. I learned to listen, be prudent, patient, empathetic and humble, and build trusting relationships. I didn't learn this from professors in college, instructors during clinical rotations, nor preceptors who oriented me to a new health care position. I learned from our seniors who struggle with dementia, our children who struggle with genetic disease syndrome, and our family, friends and neighbors who struggle with mental illness. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work in the areas of geriatric, pediatric, and behavioral health nursing. The people in my care revealed to me without saying a word that the good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement that I was looking for was with me the whole time. I was the good job that needed to be done, and I have people like your loved ones to thank for that. Early in my career as a registered nurse I decided to focus on home care because it was depressing to be surrounded by sick people who had to wait for pain medication, and help with meals, bathing, grooming, and toileting, and I couldn't help all of them. Home care affords me the time to focus on my actual employer's business at hand. That is your loved one's needs and concerns. I have always had the desire to help individuals to live a more rewarding life. It is a wonderful feeling to take away someones pain/ worries/ problems. I have cared for and raised five children and worked caring for people in multiple settings for over 25 years. I am on my own again and have relocated to my hometown of Somerset to start fresh. I am anxious to reconnect with the area and love caring for individuals on a one on one basis. Having been an RN for many years, I would very much love to care for people in their homes and treat them as family. I would like to be the extra pair of arms we all need from time to time. Going to Doctor's visits, trips to the grocery store, light housekeeping, general household pickup, walks in the park, general companionship, etc. I love to sew and read.
