Hello my name is kelsey I have been doing health care for 8 years I love what I do and take passion into my work. I have continued to do this work because I have a great personality I love to help others to achieve there goals as in walking to the bathroom 15ft I love to see them have a smile on there face . I do care about the people I take care I believe they deserve the same respect I would like and to treat them as If o wanted my grandparents caregiver would want them treated with dignity and respect.

I have been an emergency technician for the past 26 years. I took care of a vast array of patients including many who were in critical condition. I recently left the ER to be the caretaker for a husband and wife. I am responsible for bathing, cooking, grocery shopping, medication distribution, and household cleaning. Its a joy being able to help keep them out of a nursing home. The wife has end stage COPD and the husband has Parkinsons. I am especially proud that because of my efforts they are still living at home. The relationship I have built with them has been well worth it too. The husband has even given me the nickname Christmas because he looks forward to seeing me every morning.

I began my study in the science of nursing, applied myself academically, received scholarships and graduated with honors because I wanted a good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement. This is the statement many people use in the cover letter of a resume without understanding what it really means. During my tours of duty I had the pleasure of working with a diverse population of people who taught me everything I know today. I learned to listen, be prudent, patient, empathetic and humble, and build trusting relationships. I didn't learn this from professors in college, instructors during clinical rotations, nor preceptors who oriented me to a new health care position. I learned from our seniors who struggle with dementia, our children who struggle with genetic disease syndrome, and our family, friends and neighbors who struggle with mental illness. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work in the areas of geriatric, pediatric, and behavioral health nursing. The people in my care revealed to me without saying a word that the good job with the opportunity for growth and advancement that I was looking for was with me the whole time. I was the good job that needed to be done, and I have people like your loved ones to thank for that. Early in my career as a registered nurse I decided to focus on home care because it was depressing to be surrounded by sick people who had to wait for pain medication, and help with meals, bathing, grooming, and toileting, and I couldn't help all of them. Home care affords me the time to focus on my actual employer's business at hand. That is your loved one's needs and concerns. I have always had the desire to help individuals to live a more rewarding life. It is a wonderful feeling to take away someones pain/ worries/ problems. I have cared for and raised five children and worked caring for people in multiple settings for over 25 years. I am on my own again and have relocated to my hometown of Somerset to start fresh. I am anxious to reconnect with the area and love caring for individuals on a one on one basis. Having been an RN for many years, I would very much love to care for people in their homes and treat them as family. I would like to be the extra pair of arms we all need from time to time. Going to Doctor's visits, trips to the grocery store, light housekeeping, general household pickup, walks in the park, general companionship, etc. I love to sew and read. Hi! My name is Matilda. I am 20 years old with approximately a years worth of experience as a CNA. Now I know that doesn't sound like a lot of time, but I was trained in a skilled nursing facility. In a skilled nursing facility I got to meet and take care of so many amazing people. People who were long term ended up like a second family, even ones who were short term ended up like family and got treated as such. I pride myself in giving the best care I possibly can while respecting each of my residents as an individual person, learning their likes and dislikes, and respecting their opinions. I love helping others, great at communication, passionate, kind hearted, and always treat patients as if they are my own family. What attracted you to being a caregiver? My mom was sickly when I was growing up so I always helped her and knew that I had a passion for it! I love being able to help others and make sure they get the best possible experience! What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? The ability to help others and provide them the assistance and care they need! What is a personal achievement you are proud of? Continuing my education.

I believe in providing the best possible care for every senior I work for. I'm a very hand's on caregiver, by that I mean I will never be on my phone or computer while the senior is awake or in need of something. I will talk to them and listen to all their stories, even if they make them up or recite them to me 20 times. I will never let them sleep all day or take a nap unless you want them to. I don't allow them to do this because I want to keep them on a schedule so they don't mess up yours. I will never leave them in bed all day, because they can develop very painful bed sores easier this way. If they like and are allowed to go on walks or play board games I will gladly do this with them. I will also prepare meals, shower them, take them to the toilet or change their diappers, change their feeding tubes, and do house work. I provide all of these services so that you don't become overwhelmed with the caring of your senior.
