Hello & I hope you're doing well. My name is Mare & I was born and raised in Charlotte North Carolina. My interest in care giving began in 1982 when I gave birth to my daughter. Tiffany was born @ CMC w/ no right kidney & only a piece of a left kidney. That's when my caregiving actually began, however I had always wanted to be a nurse. Tiffany had several episodes of heart failure, as well as many seizures. I took the opportunity to learn as much as possible in order to help her in every way I could. Tiffany and I were referred to The Children's Hospital of Alabama where I was taught how to perform peritoneal dialysis. I treated her with paritoneal dialysis in my home for approximately one year. At that time, doctors decided she had to have a transplant. At 18 months, Tiffany was given one of my kidneys. She was put on a great deal of medications and there was a lot of care given to her over her lifespan of 28 years. After Tiffany's passing, I followed my interest in caregiving by working at a hospital as well as an assisted living company. I am a very friendly, patient & caring person who has been taught how to deescalate issues if they arise. I'm also a great listener which makes me believe I am a great companion for those who need it. I would enjoy meeting you and your loved one to see if I can help with their care. I am a passionate person who loves and enjoys helping others, especially elderly. I care greatly about helping them live independently in their homes while they are able to. I have started in the nursing career since I was 16 years. I worked in nursing homes, assisted living and private homes. I have been a part of end of life stages for those that have been diagnosed with cancer. i assisted the families as much as I could while caring for their loved one during the hardest times.

I became a caregiver because I have a willingness to help and care for others. The opportunity was offered to me when I was very young caring for a family friend and ever since I have enjoyed the work and the sense of purpose it gives me. I feel I'm a great caregiver because I'm understanding, patient, I'm a good listener and I feel empathy with others.

Being able to empathize allows me to put myself in patient shoes, and identify and ease the patients fears and discomfort. Having passion for what I do allows me to be the best caregiver that I can possibly be. I love my job. I genuinely care for my patients and people who are in need. I'm constantly looking for ways to improve my job performance ultimately, to make the lives of each patient the best it can possibly be. Having traits such as honesty and trustworthiness are are indispensable qualities everyone should have. Especially when in the homes of others. There will be many hurdles along the way when caring for different patients. Having patience's and being flexible will allow me plenty of opportunities in the field of nursing.
