I have been a caregiver for more than 15 years. I am very reliable and dependable. I truly enjoy coming to work everyday and getting to put smiles on my clients faces even when they are having a hard day.

Some traits that will help be a caregiver is I can sympathize with families I'm working with. I understand that moods change, attitudes change, mobility changes and memories change. Another trait is understanding and help how the patient wants and needs to be helped. What attracts me to being a caregiver is that my mother has a caregiver that comes into our home and I can't think her enough for being patient with my mom and understanding my mom and making her happy when she comes in because my mothers caregiver is neutral so my mom will open up to her and my mom will tell her things that she won't tell us that the caregiver feels that she needs to tell me and I just wish that my mom would be more comfortable telling me things, but I'm glad that the caregiver is there for her. And I'd like to be that special someone for someone else.. I think the one thing that I would enjoy most about being a caregiver is listening to the stories the families telling me what makes them happy, and what I can do to make them happy. I've always been told that I smile too much. I'm really proud that I smile too much because it brightens up my patients day. Sometimes they need to see a smile to know everything is going to be ok. I love being a caregiver because I get to help someone. it brings me joy to know that I'm helping someone who appreciates it. Working in both hospitals and nursing centers has shown me two different worlds to healthcare. I have really learned a lot from both. I've learned to noticed signs a lot sooner when something is going on with a patient/resident. I've learned to read people a lot faster on who they are or how they like things done. It really does make a difference when you know what to look for. That's why I wanted to be a caregiver and eventually make my way to becoming a Registered Nurse.
